  •  Goldeneye! (none / 0)

I have my very best every gaming memories playing Goldeneye multiplayer, planting bombs on the ceiling and then screen watching and using the button press combo to active the bomb when the other players would run under it.

I even took it to my bon enkai (Year End Party) and played it with a bunch of Japanese school teachers.  The James Bond setting was instantly accessible and the gameplay was captivating.  After one of the teachers died for the gazillionth time, he threw down the controller and shouted out, "All I do is touch a door and explode."  I never laughed so hard playing any game before or since!

My next favorite classic would have to be Perfect Dark multiplayer with 8 simulants, programming Peace sim to daze everyone and steal their weapons and Kaze sim aka "Wueenie" running around in high heels avenging himself on his latest killer.

After that, it has been all down hill, though I have to say, Gears has come the closest since.  Still, nothing like a real couch as opposed to a virtual couch.

For that matter, even Mario Kart 64 was a hoot!

Hip hip hooray for the 4 player split-screen classics!  I am a social gamer all the way.

All that is gold does not glitter.

are all GREAT GREAT games, but i think most gamers (at least i HOPE) know them and have already played them.

But i used to play splitscreen with all those games back in the day!

But AMEN to 4-player splitscreen goodness!  And to Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, two of the best 4 player splitscreen games to ever be.

I'm feeling California and looking Minnesota.

    •  if you wouldnt have mentioned golden eye, i (none / 0)

would have.  this year before basketball games (varsity waits for jv to play) me and three of my team mates would sit in the locker room and play golden eye on the tv that we watched film on.  it was a blast even though i came to the realization how shitty the graphics are.  despite the graphics, there is nothing better that slaying james bond with a throwing knife when you are natalia, my favorite character ;)

my other memory of golden eye was back in like 4th grade when it was still the best game on the market and my mom wouldnt let me have it for my 64 because it was too violent. i used to have to sneak over to my friends house to play it.  we had some great times with that game
