  •  mario 64 (none / 0)

has by far the most gameplay of any game to date.  screw oblivion, it is next gen.  mario had about as much anyways.  catching all those god damn stars and beat bowser 3 different times.  that was the first game that i ever beat to completion and man did it take me a long time.  after some long games you are releived, but when i beat mario 64 i threw a f--kin party.  that was the best game.  when my little brothers friends come over i still play it on their ds just for the memories.

    •  The music for the water level at the beginning (none / 0)

the one where you cage the big eel and then go down to the underwater cave.

The music in that level practically saved me from a nervous breakdown at work.

It was summertime and I was completely spent from a VERY difficult year of teaching.  With special permission from my wife ;) , I bought the whole system, came home, turned up the air-conditioner, closed the blinds, and sat in the living room for almost two days straight playing that game.  Right at the beginning, when I got to that first water level, I just took my time soaking up the music.  I even recorded it with a microphone and played it back in crappy quality over and over again.

When I finally set the controller down, I was completely refreshed, and ready for school in September.  Amazing really!  It was an incredible therapy session.

If you still have the game, go back to that first water level (you only need one star to get in, I think).  Listen to the music.  I am sure you will know what I am talking about right away.  It was that, coupled with the double back layout flips, the butt stomp, and all his other new moves.  It was so new, and so cool!

All that is gold does not glitter.
