I total agree with your analysis.  The Wii is going to take market share away from those things that currently amuse the non- or casual gamer.  I don't think it will much effect the hardcore gamer.  But I don't think the big shops will take away from the production of hardcore games in order to make the mini-games.  They may use the mini-games to grow their development teams.  But the big money still has to be in the likes of Gears and Halo.  I'd spend a lot more for Gears of War 2 then I would for a bunch of party games.  But, then again, I'm hardcore.  And your daughter is adorable.
