that sounded like a lot of fun. There is a guy though who beat insane horde on day one by himself.

    •  Yeah right!!! (none / 0)

      Got some proof?

        •  Thanks for the link, amato. (none / 0)

Looks like it must have taken a lot of patience.  It is possible that in some ways it is even easier alone because the Horde may simply huddle around directly below the single gamer (though this guy also obviously had to keep his head down).  I don't know. It would have been interesting to see where the Horde were hangin' out.  After what we went through, I wouldn't have thought it was possible.

          •  At first, I thought that his teammates... (none / 0)

either dropped out or died.  However, after watching that vid, he basically had every enemy head toward him at the Arcade barricade.  The massive amount of enemies essentially logjammed themselves trying to get him.  It was like shooting fish in a barrel.  He didn't beat the entire Horde mode on Insane, but I think he most likely started the game at Wave 50.  I'm not taking anything away from his feat, but we played the game from Wave 1 thru 50 and beat it.

              lol

He was not even getting shot at that much. Maybe AI is less aggressive with 1 person?

              •  ...nope (none / 0)

theres some other vids of 1 vs insane horde and they get raped within 30 seconds

                •  Yeah, that is why I thought it couldn't be done (none / 0)

Sometimes, we wouldn't even be able to set up, before someone was downed (or even killed).

Anyway, it was a total adventure!  I would propose that to complete Horde on Insane every one on the team of five, must have at least two of the following three attributes:

                  A.  Mad Weapons Skillz
                  B.  Effective Communication Skills
                  C.  Self-...  (discipline and sacrifice - a willingness to take one for the team)

With a balanced combination of those traits in the five, it is very doable, though it really takes patience and co-ordination.  Personally, because I come up very short on A, I thought I wouldn't be able to be part of the team that beat it. I was surprised and thrilled.

Also, just a little hint.  You need shields, but then you also need to focus your early efforts on keeping the humanoid (those who can knock down the shields) population as low as possible.  Once you get rid of the Grenadiers, Kantus, and Cyclops, you can take your time about killing the Bloodmounts, Boomers and Maulers.

Tons of fun! We were so amped after the feat, we spent almost an hour just visiting in the lobby, even though for everyone but me, it was in the wee hours of the night/morning.

One last thing, I am TOTALLY in love with this kind of co-op gaming! (Can't wait for L4D next week.)

Epic really needs to focus some Gears 3 development resources on researching where they can take Horde from here.  It is an awesome Mode.

Someone suggested Horde with 10 Gamers.  To make that challenging, the maps would have to be HUGE and would require Berserkers, Reavers, and Brumaks to make it challenging.  Can you imagine, if there were several Brumaks, and someone on your team managed to capture one alive and ride it around turning it against them?! Saving stranded buddies left and right.  I think I can hear Cole screaming hilarious one-liners.  Forget 4 player campaign co-op.  Leave that at 2.  Focus energies on Horde possibilities.

        •  No way!!!!! (none / 0)

          That really is insane.
