Funny, I heard that console gaming was dying.

More than a few articles online have referred to some gaming execs pontificating that the console may die out in five to ten more years.  That being said, I say that I can't see consoles dying out just yet, nor can I see the PC dying out either.  Right now it is easier to see the future of computers continuing to rise and be in every facet of our lives, but it is too early to say what the next gen of consoles will look like or cotain.  We want to play games and will do it where it makes us feel like it is worth it.  What I think is possible is that there will always be some kind of game platform to be marketed, physical or software based.  It is all about capturing a market, be it on a console or PC.  PC's are widespread and range in price.  Consoles are usually lower in cost to capture an attentive (feverish) base of gamers that DEMAND they continue to have access to a stable flock of games.  There will be a game for every kind of PC, but is it the game you want to play?  Sony, Nintendo, and MS have identified our need for games and attempt to corner our market share by providing the console with the best capability to provide the best possible games.  Exclusivity.  We just saw the first war in HD between HD and Blueray.  Blueray gathered up the studios to pull the customers.  Rolling the blueray into a gaming console didn't hurt either.  From the starting block consoles have pulled the best studios to produce the exclusive games.  Sony gambled with blueray in the PS3 and may still win out on MS, but that just shows that consoles may be evolving into a more specifically tuned entertainment system.  Maybe a PC will always be a PC that we alwyas use for work, sometimes use for fun, and will take on trips (if it is portable enough).  However, consoles may still evolve into something we always go to for pure entertainment.

And that's the scoop as I see it.

Ready to finish all the Fights!
