  •  And (none / 0)

am I understanding correctly that you can only get 1 of something for an achievement per match? If that is what he is saying - that's fucking retarded
    •  It will (none / 0)

      stop achievement whores at least
      •  That's for (none / 0)

sure, no more getting gernade tagged all round, that will be a good thing :)
      •  and it forces (none / 0)

people to use each weapon simultaneously if they want the achievements.. (ie - nades 1 round, boomshot the next, then the snipe..). I think its a damn good idea.
        •  I think this is how it works: (none / 0)

Within a single round (e.g., 9 of which a match is made up of for a best of 5), you can get say 5 different points towards 5 different achievements (e.g. if you manage to kill all 5 enemies by yourself, using 5 different methods:  Longshot headshot, grenade tag, saw, arrow stick, and boomshot).

Those who want to go all RPG (CoD4 Golden gun type thing) can get points towards 5 different achievements in a single round.

I think it is a brilliant solution and it will absolutely stop any kind of weapon whoring, at least that which is motivated by stats and achievements.  Instead of having teammates killing people over the Longshot, for example. Teammates will be SWAPPING weapons so they can both get points for each weapon....in theory.

but in ranked, you can't kill your teammate any way, but I do see what you're saying.

            •  Ha ha ha Shows how much I have (none / 0)

played ranked!  I cannot imagine playing this game without FF on.  It is funny, because in Halo, there aren't even achievements for it, and people get killed quite often for power weapons.  Oh the wilderness that is XBL and the random gamer!

If friendly fire is off for matchmaking, it will only be because all my friends are draggin' me along, that I play in that realm.

        •  Yes, they did for CoD4 (none / 0)

but in that game, you sometimes get 45 kills a round (I said "you" not "me" ha ha ha).  Also, people get to choose their starting weapons, including a Sniper Rifle.

They only way the CoD4 system would work for Gears 2 is if they gave gamers those same experiences - MANY kill chances per round, and FULL starting weapon choices.

Japanese management practices to the west, without understanding, and providing for, all the individual sacrifice and support that goes on behind the scenes.  You have to take the WHOLE system, or think up an entirely new one.

          •  I think you misundertood us. (none / 0)

I'm simply agreeing with the fact that there are no achievement points that can be gained from CoD 4's MP at all.  Yes, there are perks & leveling up, but people that are achievement whores aren't bogging that game down in order to "achieve" a specific kind of kill with a specific kind of weapon.  Since they aren't being rewarded by getting an achievement, they're playing it for the enjoyment which is how it games should be played in general.

I would agree, that would be fine as well.

Yes!  (but if they absolutely must tie in the achievements with weapon specific performance, then at least limiting progress to one point per gun per round is better than not at all.)  Yep.  Good, good.

    •  It definitely takes away the competative nature (none / 0)

of getting achievements...which kinda sucks, but so does achievement whores so it's a lose-lose
    •  I think it makes the acheivements more (none / 0)

respectable. In gears, i never even considered the achievements a big deal because so many people boosted.
