  •  Umm.. (none / 0)

I didn't know Gearheads had a Pro Gears of War team.

Isn't the point to play and have fun, not to have super-serious communication and strategy?  I'll stick to, "I got yer back _[insert name here]" when I play.  We aren't doing this for money, for fame, for any gain whatsoever.  So why should we take playing Gears so seriously and start using callouts, tactical information and strategies, and specific communication?

    I guess I'm confused.

they dont have to communicate the way you do, its like saying just because i have a gun doesnt mean i have to join the military, some people think its more fun using the communication blank just pointed out, and i prefer using that kind of communication, it somewhat brings you more into the action, nice post blank

id rather have a lot of communication than no communication at all. And if you get killed by someone that was spotted by a teammate, you know have to wait a few minutes for the round to end, even though it was completely preventable if your teammate had only said something.

I agree though silva, i don't play just to win but to have fun.....but on the other hand i'd rather be PLAYING than spectating only because there was a lack of communication.

    •  Take it for what you will, MS. (none / 0)

They're suggestions, bro.  Do we have to be MLG players to have a fun time?  No.  Does effective communication decrease the fun?  No.  Is it really that hard to do?  No.  Are you forced to communicate like this?  No.  It's a diary.  Plain & simple.  Practically everytime that you've got something to say, it's a jab at something.  The only time you pop up in this community is to plug something about Halo.  I can't remember the last time that you even grabbed a game of Gears with us.  You've got a really negative tone & I don't know why you always seem to have one.

Gears is MY Star Wars!!! Wooohhh!!!

      •  Woah, Blank (none / 0)

easy there.  I don't like your tone so much either M.S. because they do come off negative towards any game discussion that doesn't revolve around Halo, but Blank, he just wants to have a chillax experience and not be too tactical, and he probably thought you were trying to impose guidelines for our matches (I know you're not, but those who don't know how we play Gears well enough may think that way).  So lets chill, and continue with the discussion in a decent matter.

      Fun and Communication can co-exist.

that Blank and I aren't trying to impose guidelines for communication though it may have seemed like we were.

Gears is kind of unique at the "casual" level in that just a little bit of communication can go a LONG way.  In almost all FPS games, respawning is possible, so at the casual level, people can just risk a life to find out where the enemy is and what they are doing. They can get a ton of valuable info and make use of it, even if they die.  In Gears, there is no radar nor respawning, and there are a lot of hiding places, and corners around which a person holding a saw can get an instant guaranteed kill and in one swipe, reduce a team to 3/4 (or in Gears 2, 4/5) strength.

It is very rare that I will go even just a single match without being at least mildly surprised.  I never go an evening without having at least one "Oh Sh*t!" moment.  I don't experience that in other games, and even when I do, I always get to respawn, and share the newly acquired info with my teammates.
