    They began building one of these in Texas called the Superconducting Supercollider.  it was going to have an 87 Km circumference, but construction was abandoned.  To give you an idea of how large that was, the one at CERN has a 27 Km circumference.  

    If this one can end the world, imagine what the one in Texas could have done...
