Has Assassin's Creed 2 lost something?

Sat Nov 07, 2009 at 02:54:04 PM EST

What I mean to say is that when AC came out 2 years ago it just seemed like such a "bigger" game. Now AC2 seems like kind of an afterthought. I'm not feeling the hype for this game the way I did for the first one. Is it just because the train of hype and media for MW2 is overshadowing it or is it something else?

Are you guys really pumped to get your hands on this game or is it just another game that you'll play? What are your guys thoughts?

The Parish Parts 1 & 2 Impressions

Thu Oct 29, 2009 at 09:39:34 PM EST

As Valve had finally released the demo for Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam, and having gotten past the multiple pre-loading, loading, decrypting, and syncing processes and a single crash, I later-rather than sooner found myself battling the hordes of the undead in Louisiana.  The first Left 4 Dead combined the trigger-happiness of Counter-Strike and the subtle story elements of the Half Life series, as well as the dark-humor of Team Fortress 2, to accomplish a dark and entertaining shooter.  More importantly, it stressed the importance of team work, where a tight and cohesive team is the only way to survive the onslaught on higher difficulties.

Finally we brits have something americans won't and....

There is a great selection of movies from Cleopatra (mum would love this) to recent hits like Iron man and YES THE DARK KNIGHT. There are simply over a hundred films to watch.

Hard Rain

Mon Oct 26, 2009 at 07:00:36 PM EST

I know, long time no see right?  This year's been a little hectic for me with college and work, and trying to finish refurbishing the old place before the weather gets to bad here on the lakes.  Also, as many of you can tell on Live, I don't have Gold at the moment, and the fact that a good friend of mine decided to move his 360 with my copy of CoD4:MW inside has lead to the absence online.

Before I do catchup with everyone and all the events the past few months, I wanted to point to some developer commentary on the Hard Rain campaign in Left 4 Dead 2 over at Gamespot.

Haven't watched it all yet, so that leaves some discussion to be had for later.

FYI, I'm purchasing L4D 2 through Steam, so any Steam users not struggling with updating their rigs with Windows 7 should attempt to get a hold of me on there.

Win 7....f, help.

Sun Oct 25, 2009 at 11:52:24 PM EST

So I've been running the Windows 7 RC for several months and it's been perfect.  Now I've installed Windows 7 Home Premium (and had to clean install...) and now I can't run Aero due to my Windows Experience score being 1.0 for graphics and gaming grahpics.  Everything else is 5.9 lol.

So I'm assuming Win 7 isn't recognizing drivers or something? Or did I just show my ignorance by thinking that's the problem?

Zos, ya got my back?

Anyone else pick up Windows 7?

My Absence

Sun Oct 25, 2009 at 10:59:44 AM EST

I have been super busy with college(back to school after 13 years) and haven't been playing much games. I sold my 360 a few weeks ago so until Nov.10th all I have is a ps3 to game with. I'll be back on xbl in about 2 weeks.

P.S. Borderlands is a blast even on ps3. I've got a hunter up to level 21. The only thing I dislike about it is not getting to do co-op with u guys over xbl. I have been playing alone and its still amazing.

Here are the release notes from the forum.

My PC brethren...

Thu Oct 22, 2009 at 10:14:16 AM EST

First, I got all the parts for my computer from NewEgg.com.

The customer service there is amazing! To date, I'll have had to return two parts, my original CPU (box was trashed) and now my video card (defective, causes video errors, etc).

That aside, have a Steam account up. Going to go through there for some purchases and such. Anyhoo, once I purchase a game or two, I need some ideas. Plus, I'd love to talk machinima and photoshop with some of you guys. Nate, I know you in particular dabble in some of that and would love to chat with you about what you use (tool wise and such). I'm a total n00b but loving it!

Borderlands... Finally what I have always wanted...

Wed Oct 21, 2009 at 08:08:18 PM EST

So I stood in line at the Midnight Launch for Borderlands at my local GameStop. Waiting for something that has been promised over and over again. A real Shooter/RPG that plays like a shooter. No dumbing down the weapons and basing your chances to hit an enemy on some hidden dice roll. But real honest to goodness accuracy controlling your fate! Let's face it, it has been tried before and had limited success. Usually due to companies focusing on making an RPG that looks and feels like a shooter, but really isn't. Fallout 3 is a perfect example of this. It looks great, it sounds great, but it feels "wrong" to those of us who are FPS/3PS players. You twitch reflexes are not so good if you can aim dead on at the enemy and the computer decides you didn't hit based on some abstract arcane calculation of your characters level + skill points + encumberance / Speed of a pidgeon * number of lord of the rings movies....

It completely breaks my willingness to continue a game that gives me a gun then ignores my ability to aim it with my mouse. Mass Effect is much closer, and the sequel is supposed to improve the combat even more. But I am here to talk about Borderlands... my savior...
