I'm quite surprise how smoothly the cover system is for Gears Of War. I can't really wait till I get my hands on the game and play single player first then online. Reason is, if i play single player first I always end up pwning online for about every single game. I get use to the controls, cover-system, health system, and the weapons. The only thing about GoW I'm worried about is that I have never seen or played any game like it before. Not to mention how different it is to any FPS or third person shooters out there. And thats a good thing just so you know. Another thing I'm doing at the moment is, when I'm playing Splinter cell: double agent, I ask my teammates/foes if their planning to purchase GoW. You'd be quick surprise how many said, "I preorder mines already" or "I'm buying it the day it comes out." As I mention before, I have already pre-order my collectors edition for GoW. I couldn't risk losing a game like this, not Gears. But another good thing is i have a higher pecantage of getting my hands on quicker with Gears than others (on the 7th).

So Gears OF War will be big. It might not have as many players Halo2 did since the Mature Rating. But how many gamers is still getting the game, ignoring the rating? Who listens to the rating anyways? Yet parents still buying the games that their children shouldn't allowed to play, yet they still complain about the violence videogames contain. I'm 15years old and I've already pre-order Gears Of War, well actually my brother pre-order it with my money. Their aware the type of violence and brutality Gears Of War has and they don't quite care. As long i'm happy and I'm enjoying the game, thats good enough for me and for them to observe the game as I play. I'm going be hogging this game for some time. But whats more important, is why people target videogames as the source of evil? Their are many problems with the world out there and yet about two years ago their we're these political people complaining about videogames being dangerous to children.

Every week in history class, we need to day what is called, "World Event." For World Event we must gather an article that is not based in U.S. Usually I find articles about the War In Iraq so I can easily present it in class. Usually it's about a suicide bomber killing civilians and U.S. Soilders. I find it a heart-break when their isn't much sympathy or much appreciation as their was years ago. The main point is that many people today are not paying attention to their choices without a sense of feeling. An example, when someone does drugs, ect.

"why people target video games as the source of evil?"

People are quick to blame it on a video game because they can't see themselves as being the reason their child went off, shot and killed 5 kids at school. So they blame the game because its easy, the perfect scapegoat.

  •  my opinion is (none / 0)

that parents that blame video games for their childs troubles/actions are damn fools. First, because they were dumb enough to buy the game for their child, who obviously is stupid in the head. Second, dont blame games for your being a bad parent. As far as Lawyer Jack Thompson is concerned, he hates video games because he isnt good at them X-0 lol

I tried to watch the IGN show a few times and my flash player kept giving me an error?!?
Any way I went to 1up and downloaded the weekly 1up show burned a disk and watched on my 360. The crew really got into detail about how Gears plays and what they were expecting compaired to what they got. I would recomend checking it out!

As far as Jack Thompson and parents blaming kids problems on games. It is a catch 22, sure if a kid stays in his room all day every day playing games he will develope anti social traits. But whos fault is it he/she is in their room all day playing. The parents of course.Jack Thompsan has been crusading againts things he finds "evil" for years. Back in the early 90's he was the main person that went up againts 2Live Crew. I dont like that kind of music but anyone trying to limit someones freedom of choice is trouble IMO.

  •  I agree (none / 0)

People are always looking at finding excusses for the violence that kids are doing today. If its not music then its movies or TV. If not that its video games. But what about countries like the middle east or africa and their is all this violence yet the kids their are not listing to rap or playing video games before they blow them selfs up

You just gave me a great idea. All cultures seem to have violence (in varying degrees, yes, but violence none the less). What else to all cultures have? God! Blame the violence on God!

See, that's almost as ridiculous as blaming video games... except people have actually gone to war over God, nobody's gone to war over a video game. Well, virtual war, maybe.
