A deal...

Sat Nov 04, 2006 at 02:04:39 AM EST

with the devil.  That is what I made 4 months ago.  You see, I decided to wait to get my 360 until GoW came out.  My wife said, we just don't have the money right now but maybe for your birthday.  Then I told her how much everything would cost and the dealing began.  It was finally decided that I would get my 360 & GoW as a joint Birthday and Christmas gift (my birthday is 2 days before Emergence Day).  I would get Gears for my birthday and the 360 for Christmas, great deal huh?  Well, I agreed...what else could I do!  She had me by the short and curlys!  Some of you may say, "grow a set and put your foot down!", but unless you have a band on your left ring finger you can't even begin to understand.  So here it is 11/3 and tonight, after persuading my wife, I took in my Xbox and traded up for the 360.  We went to EB Games so that we could take advantage of their $80 trade in special.  I figured I could reason with my wife, don't try this at home, asking her if I really had to wait since now I have no game system whatsoever in my house.  The answer was not only "no", but now    I have to look at my 360 and, after Wednesday, my copy of GoW until Christmas night.  You heard that right, I can't even play Christmas Day!  We gotta go to the in-laws, whose TV is 20 YEARS OLD!  Whipped you say!?  Loser!?  Nancy Boy!?  You try dealing with my devil and then you can talk!  For now, just pray I don't lose my mind and try not to rub it in so much when you post your first experiences with Gears.  Thank you for your support and I look forward to getting curb stomped by all of you who are 2 months up on me on Christmas Night!

you're not the only one dealing with this kind of situation  ;)
  •  Well.... (none / 0)

Maybe if you didn't refer to your wife as "THE DEVIL" things would tend to go your way more often. Just a thought.

your wife that without your xbox and your games, your starting to feel the urge to start drinking and doing meth to pass the time until christmas. When my wife starts in on me about playing games I always bring up the fact I could be out drinking, seems to get her off my back.

Hey man I'm sorry about that! I just dumped my girlfriend (for other reasons) so I have a lot of free time on my hands!! I'll try not to hurt you to bad on Christmas Day.

That is a brutal deal.  Last year, I was able to talk my wife into a new LCD TV as my birthday, Christmas and anniversary present.    But she let me start using it the minute we got it.

Man, bust that bad boy out now!

My g/f offered to buy me gears the day it came out as an early Christmas gift. Of course, she also came with me to the GameStop promo and picked up a COG tag and a poster.

I'm sorry, though, bro. That's gotta be really tough. I can't imagine waiting over a month to play this game. Gears is the reason I bought the 360 after all.

I have to throw in a good word for women - I'd choose my girlfriend over any video game any day. The fact that you're actually willing to wait till Christmas to play Gears speaks volumes about what a great woman your wife must be.

So I say, just pay her the utmost respect, maybe surprise her with something caring and sweet, and who knows, maybe she'll let you play GoW sooner than the 25th...

...or she's smarter than that and she'll realize you're up to something and not let you play till New Year.

honestly do anything for her, and over the weekend I put in some hard housework time...even at her parents house!  My reward, one night and one night only...this Wednesday when I come home with my copy of GoW it's chainsaws away, then everything gets packed up until Xmas.  What a great woman...although she did get a kick out of the fact that I'd get a taste and then have to wait!

what I'm talking about! Way to go! But, yeah, after that one taste... I donno if that's going to make the waiting any easier.
