Dissapointed

We all look for chances to receive what we want. You can try as hard, yet you would never reach your goal. Over two years ago, I took drama class, which is obviously, acting. Kevin and I we're the best actors in the class. We always made the funniest scenes, always gave the best, but yet in the long run, all those people I've met, are gone. We seperated to different highschool. I was then inspired to become an actor. For a year. Till I was constantly put down by my own family, mainly my little brother who says I can never become what I want to be. No matter how hard I try, or what i do or give nor say, it doesn't matters. It doesn't changes someones opinion, as for an example, the MTV contest. I had people who wanted a 15 years old boy (me) to have this amazing chance which I would of been thrilled if I was selected. Which, I was wasn't. Then twice have I tried to just be a contestant for a faceplate, yet it doesn't happens because I don't get through people in here no matter how long I've been a member in "GearHeadsOf War" or how good I am. It doesn't quite matter. good luck to the winner.

Was the mtv thing even a contest? I mean if you're 15 I can totally understand why they didn't pick you. MTV only cares about 15 year olds if they're spoiled and about to turn 16. Get used to dissapointment, but don't give up because of it.

think of it as the the classic stones lyric

"You cant always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need"

You are luckily enough to have a house over your head and food on the table.

You have a LONG life in front of you, just persue what you want in life and you can make it.

But things like an acting career are very hard to come by because alot of it has to do with luck and timing.

When i was 15, i really wanted a nice Gibson guitar. But it seemed impossible (hey i was 15 and the guitar was $3000)Fast forward about a year later, i worked all summer and got a job when i turned 16 and got it later that year.

As far as the contest is conserned, i dont think people have dismissed your dairies, its just that people respond with things that are a big debate at the time, or just something everyone can connect too.

Good luck with your dreams and remember that if you work hard, you will always come out of the situation as a person with more character and responsibility! :)

(PS siblings are born to put down each other, dont take it personal and if all else fails, give em' a wedgie! :))

  •  Well, my pops always said... (none / 0)

In the game of life, you don't always get the faceplate.

You're only 15 years old brother, you've got a loooooong life ahead of you, and plenty of faceplates to achieve.  Heck, if you're good enough, one or two of those faceplates may even have signatures.  It's all about playing with the hand you're dealt with and making the best of it.

I'm 23 years old, and I've set a dream for myself a while ago.  I'm not there yet, but i'm workin towards it.  Someday i'll be a writer for the screen or video games, if not, well then I can always settle for the next best thing.

Just keep on searchin for that sunset.  Stay gold, ponyboy...stay gold....

i'm pretty much twice your age and if there is one thing i can send back to you is that "dont worry about what ppl say" just do what you love and there is no way you'll loose. papi must be having a hard time keeping up with all the great stuff ppl are posting. even i dont get to read all of them. i loved your "Madness!" post though the one that made it to the main page. peace.

i got mixed up. needless to say the madness diary was awesome!

I was in your shoes "back in the day" as well (I was only fifteen 7 years ago, not really that long).

Right now, I'm trying to make it in the world of film and video production. I have about an ice cube's chance in hell of reaching a point where I can support myself doing that (about the same as making it as an actor, really). But I've been striving for this goal since high school, and it's really the only thing I know how to do.

As for how to how to win a faceplate, well here's my practical advice: it sounds counterintuitive, but don't write what you think people want to hear. You gotta find something that nobody's written about yet, or else take a common topic to a new and interesting level. We all come from different backgrounds with different knowledge, so be sure to apply what you know. You think anyone here has any interest in feminist film theory? Probably not, but I was able to use my knowledge of it to present an interesting (if hilarious) look at Gears of War, and it got me an honorable mention.

Sure, papi may have only had two faceplates to give away, but that doesn't mean your efforts here are a lost cause. I didn't win any contests when I was 15 on any of the Halo fansites I participate in. But I payed attention to the people there, I listened, I participated. Years later, I jumped on the Gears' bandwagon because I knew the type of community member I wanted to be. I guess you could call it my big break.

So, sorry this was so long, but the short answer? Keep on truckin', you're already on the right road.
