Yawn, Gears again?

Wed Dec 27, 2006 at 09:13:48 PM EST

Just to start off, the game is still great, but I am starting to hit the point were Gears is just starting to get to the point were its something that is not entertaining me every time I play it.  It might be me, but I really think its the game if anything else.  Maps are great, but were we not promised more?  I remember only that, no details, nothing.  Just "more maps", well, yea, eventually it had to happen eventually.  And also, (I hate to make comparisons, but this is the only way I can think to explain it), its really not like Halo with 14 jillion options for multiplayer to keep everything fresh, the game types in Gears are bland.  They are basically all the same with little tiny changes.  I wanna play some objective games, maybe make my own gametypes, things like that.  Playing Warzone/Exection (cause Assassination just is not fun), 7000 times has kind of lost it.  and Co-Op was amazing, it really was, but, well, you can only go through the same exact thing so many times before boring of that.  I still play the game, all the time, its my really only good Live game, and I still play it.  But I know I am soon gonna want more, I need some room to move around, keep things fresh  I am not burning Epic for making a crappy game, its great, but I can only play the same thing so many times.

the COG KGB is probably going to whack you for that, despite the fact that I agree with most of what you are saying. Friday Night Fragging is still a blast.

  •  i'm so with you on this (none / 0)

i mean i love the campaign and can still play it over and over again but more stuff in MP is desperately needed, and god if they can make the match making better. somehow epic is awefully quite about the upcoming update, may be they are taking a break right now, its well deserved i'd say, but i really hope something good shows up when it does.

anything will become boring if that is all you have. I mean I love ice cream. It's my favorite desert, but if it's all I have to eat for a long period of time then I'll get bored of that too. I just wish I had 1 or 2 other games I could switch and play. Right now it just seems to be Gears and even though I'm still in love with it, I need to take a break from my favorite thing on 360 so it remains my favortie thing.

I agree with Fr33climb.  We have been starved for new and fun games since the launch.  Gears has come and we are ravenous for it.  It's good, it's fun, but it can lose its appeal if that is all we are playing.  I am looking forward to the 2nd wave of games, so there is a better circulation of gaming experiences.  Come January 12th I'll be hitting Lost Planet, but I'm definitely not putting my Gears too far from the console.

We just need a real good 1 2 3 puch of games to play, then you'll be able to circulate and enjoy them much more for their differences.

A strong friends list. I constantly have tons of people online that i enjoy playing with, and it truly makes the experience have a longer lasting appeal and imo its the way it is meant to be played.

Random matches are great, but there is a reason they are called quick matches. They are meant for when you have just a little spare time.

But having a buddy host a game and filing the room (or half) with people you like never runs out of playability.

I just hate when that damn bug that doesn't let you join games gets in the way. Kinda happens to me a lot. Usually when one of the guys from Epic always wants to play. That really sucks!

just listen to some awesomely bad music like the Buggles or Right Said Fred, or an awesomely bad movie like Armageddon or Fight Club.

  •  This has all happened before (none / 0)

Havent we all experienced this before on XBOX 1? I remember losing weeks of my life with Halo 2 and counterstrike. As then, nothing else compared to them. I remember climbing the worldwide rankings on the original star wars Jedi Knight, played over dial up must be 13 or 14 years ago, with all kinds of lag going on, still couldnt stop playing it though!!. The sad truth of it is, that no matter how great a game is, there will always be that unhappy time when the relationship breaks down and a new one builds up. How many of us can say hand on hear that gears will still get a huge ammount of our attention when Halo3 drops in, oh yeah!! GEARS 2!!!!
