Well, the big announcement has finally been made. Gears of War will hit store shelves on November 12, 2006.
There will be a standard edition for $59.99 and a Collector's Edition for $69.99.
According to the official release:
The limited edition offers an even deeper look into the graphically stunning and frightening world of Gears of War, providing an official "Destroyed Beauty" art book and a bonus DVD featuring an inside look at the making of the game--all enclosed in a highly collectible metal box.
Cliff adds a quote to the release here:
"Our vision is to deliver a one-two punch of cinematic action paired with a thrilling and compelling interactive experience," said Cliff Bleszinski, lead designer at Epic. "With Gears of War we've created a title that will place you directly in the shadows of a ravaged world, surrounded by the beautiful remnants of a destroyed city and the horrific dangers that hide in the rubble."
There is no question (not that there ever was) now that Gears is a missile aimed directly at the PS3, appearing on store shelves a mere five days prior to the release of Sony's console.
Stay tuned to Gearheads over the next week or two as Cliffy has promised to stop by for an interview in the near future.
ONLY 100 DAYS OR SO UNTIL EMERGENCE DAY. Are you ready? Stop reading and go to Gamestop/EB Games and reserve that Collector's Edition now.
