HDMI Question

Mon Oct 08, 2007 at 03:18:51 PM EST

Well, I just bought a new HDTV and the Halo 3 edition 360. Needless to say, I'm stoked. Halo looks beautiful, and I can't wait to try out Gears. I am playing using the component cables right now, and was curious if HDMI makes a noticeable difference at 720p? (My set doesn't support 1080p). Also, I heard that with some versions of the 360, you NEED the special Microsoft HDMI cable. Is this true with the Halo 3 edition, or will any standard HDMI cable work?

Thanks for your help guys, and I look forward to fragging you in hi-def, widescreen glory in the future!

about needing a special version on the HDMI cable. Mine came free with my Elite ;)
    •  I know for the Elite (none / 0)

you don't need a special one. But I guess for the new low-end 360's that come with HDMI, you do. I'm just not sure which category the Halo 3 Edition falls into (it didn't come with an HDMI cable).

see how you could use a special HDMI.  You can just use the one that came with the elite.  I had 2 extras from satelite and for my DVD player so Im using one of those.  Its def a crisper picture using HDMI over component.  Im not sure how it would be if your TV only does 720p.  It must do 1080i thou doesnt it.  If you have HDMI I would use it, cuz really why wouldnt you?!?
