Connection Speed?

I know the connection speed for the game host is important, But would a faster connection speed help a player who is not hosting a match. I was told that your connection speed will move in waves with various high and low points. Do these High and Low points change the playability in a MP match. Macaface asked the question on consistency and I also am a player who sometimes is all over the place, even when teams have not changed and the matches are on a cycle. How do the rounds coming out of my weapons vary so much from match to match? I am not playing any different then I was last match. So is there something in the connection speed which drags you down and later raises you up a notch?
My conection right now is 1.5 Mbps, my provider offers up too 10 Mbps starting march first.
Would increasing my connection speed make my muti-player expierence more level and cosisitent?
If any one has any answers it would be great.
The jump in price is $40.00 a month

  •  depends (none / 0)

everything online is based on upload speed not download speed unless your downloading from marketplace or something.

check and see what they offer for your maximum upload speed. that will also determine if you will be a good host or not.

PS playing xbox live wireless will drop your connection alot.

also when playing on xbox live dont use your internet connection because if your surfing the internet and downloading something on your computer your speed will suffer online.

  •  Cool thanks man! (none / 0)

My up is 128kbps so the 512kbps or the 800kbps would be what I need to look for.

another question for the gurus.  Does a router effect your speed.  As in does it slow down the process?

    Thanks,

to the speakeasy speed test connecting to the San Francisco site, my speeds are:

Download Speed: 3407 kbps (425.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1744 kbps (218 KB/sec transfer rate)

This was done on my Mac Mini, which is grossly underpowered.  I can easily get the torrents going at 1.5MB/sec UP and much faster down.  It all depends on the software.
