Did You Hear That?

In his write-up about playing Halo 3 on Friday, papi blez said, "There's just something about that chainsaw, boom shot and those grenades that just make Gears so unique."  Well, this past Friday, I really noticed how cool just the sounds of GoW are.  Especially the grenade tags, torque bow and hammer of dawn.  Who doesn't panic a little when they hear those latter two sounds?  But now here's something for which I may need therapy; I was driving through my neighborhood Saturday.  It was a beautiful day and I had my windows down.  Then, out of no where, I here a chainsaw rev up!  My head whipped around and I half expected to see Polandstyle coming at me.  But it was just some guy cutting up a tree in his front yard.  What a trip!  GoW is such an awesome, visceral, experience.  There are so many small touches that make the game so immersive.  It is really one of a kind and the bar by which I will measure all future games.

i feel you.  i have been going back and forth between halo and gears a lot lately and that has made me apreciate gears a lot more.  although there are only like 10 weapons they are all sweeter on gears than they are in other games.  i also love they sounds that the theron gaurds and general raam make and the one liners by kim, baird and cole train.

and although the chainsaw is kinda noobish, i love it because it is unique to gears and really sweet if you think about it.

  •  Funny i'm now thought about via a Chainsaw... (none / 0)

That was funny, thinking i was there.  I agree with you, not about me with a chainsaw but about even the "ambient" sounds that happen in Gears, the random boom in the background or the grunt from a Locust, or a "Hell Yeah" from Marcus that seems to add an additional ambiance to the game.

Almost like a 4th dimension, sorry but it's early and i'm not awake yet....

Or Lord Zoso's Torque revving or the sound of the looming hammer of dawn.

    Good point there null....

You will meet your maker, the "chainsaw" and POLANDSTYLE
