Gearheads of War

This post is more on a personal note than anything, just letting you know where I'm at in life right now. Monday I will be going to Chicago to take an oath and join the Army.

Now, this isn't the Army enlisted per say as I will be going to Olivet Nazarene University this fall to study Marketing and Communications. The way this program works (It's called ROTC) is I go one weekend a month to a National Guard Base for leadership training. The Army then pays me an amount for each weekend on top of a large amount towards schooling at the end of this semester.

Then, if my grades are up to par the Army is offering me a full scholarship for 3 ½ years to Olivet. Meaning, they will pay for my schooling if I serve 8 years after college as an Officer in the Army. When I graduate, I will be in a very good position as I will have 4 years of leadership training with the Army, no debt, a degree in Marketing with a minor in Communications and be getting paid as an Officer in the Army...not too shabby.

Now I don't go to Boot Camp per say because I am being trained to be an Officer, not an enlisted man. So for the next 4 years while at college I will do physical training twice a week and leadership training one day a week and get paid for that as well.


So, long story short, my life is getting very complicated very soon as I will be starting my first semester of college, living away from home for the first time (a part from trips to Europe and such) and entering the military all in the same week! And the week Bioshock comes out no less:(


But, overall, this shouldn't mean too much in terms of time spent here- A part from a weekend here and there I should be on Live and writing for GearHeads just about as much as normal.  So, I'll still be here hanging out with you all, things will just be a little different.


So, I appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I enter this huge stage of my life. I'm sure your humor and discussions will keep me from flipping out due to stress more than once ;)
