COD 4 Ranking System

Mon Aug 20, 2007 at 04:03:58 PM EST

Well seeing how there is a buildup of Bioshock diaries I thought I might switch up the discussion elsewhere.

Now, COD4 is one of the most hyped games out there. I'm making this point purely on how much Really Doe screams in my ear about the BETA and how sick it will be.

I've been researching it a bit and the only real thing that I have a bit of a problem with is the ranking system. Now I havent read all that much about it but what I can get from it is that it's much like Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. Dont get me wrong, I love that game, but I dont really like the ranking system. I understand theres no achievements for ranking up but the fact still remains that you need to play longer to unlock different levels and equipment.

Now I may be missing some things so fill me in on your opinion.

they change that. I'm sure you can pick the Higher Ranked soldier's weapon up after, and if, you kill them, but I mean you have to rank up to get better equipment. That just gives the better players even more of an advantage.

was definitely one thing I disliked about R6. Hopefully the guys at IW have figured out a way to make it a little more fair for the newer players.

at all...If the ranking system is like you said. I was afraid of this with Halo 3 in terms of the different armor variants because they are unlock-able. As it turns out, they offer no real advantage, just some new armor you can unlock by playing the game.

But jumping into my first matches in COD 4 are going to be a real pain if everyone else has better equipment.

  •  Well, (none / 0)

R6 had a system where only a few ranks would be unlocking weapons. Most unlocked useless camo but the fact still remains that I still get owned by the desert eagle and the spaz shotgun, both which I dont have yet because the rank to get them takes about 549458 hours to reach for me. So when people say pistols only or shotguns only, I get screwed alot of the time.

It's always crap when someone is going to be better than you because they've put more time into the game and not because  they're actually better than you.

well, the ranking system, is way different than the one in gaybow 6, there are 65 levels in cod 4, and the whole ranking up part is way diffrent, its way easier to rank up, and each rank up you unlock something, unlike gaybor 6 the ranking system is WAY BETTER,you dont have to go and look at how many bars you need to level up, there is a small bar that fills up and its tells you when you are going t level up there is not one level where you dont unlock anything, you will always unlock something, specially with the small missions they give you, instead of online achievments they give you missions, and they will also help you onluck weapons attachments and camoes, dont worry about the ranking system, it will be better than gaybow 6, and i hope to play with most of you in the beta

  •  Well, (none / 0)

my point is that the ranking systems are similar. I didn't say that they were exactly the same so i'm not exactly wrong now am I? The fact is that there is still a similar system where you still need to play hours upon hours to unlock certain things.

a new trailer.  I didn't want to make a new diary for it, so sorry to get a little off-topic since it's not about the rankings.  This vid is sweet though, it shows off the perks nicely...
