Wii outsells 360??

Rumor: Wii Has Surpassed Xbox 360 in Worldwide Sales

Has the prophecy been fulfilled? According to gaming metrics web site VG Chartz, the Nintendo Wii has surpassed the installed base of the Xbox 360.

Vgchartz.com has announced that lifetime sales of Nintendo's Wii have passed Microsoft's Xbox 360 on a worldwide basis as of August 23rd. The web site, which tracks consoles sold to consumers and not to stores, claims that retailers have sold 10.57 million Wiis and 10.51 million Xbox 360s since both consoles launched. The Wii launched on November 19, 2006, a year after the Xbox 360.

If this happens to be true, the Nintendo Wii would have surpassed sales of the Xbox 360 in less than a year.

We expect an official announcement any time from now. Stay tuned.

  that's a great analogy, although I hate NNN because of the emo kids at my school... I could honestly care less which system wins to be honest. I'm satisfied with my 360 for now :).

I didn't expect it this soon. I thought it would be happening around Christmas.
I am interested to see how many, if any, consoles are sold when Halo 3 comes out.

  360 for original xbox/ halo 2 hardcore people. i know people that bought 360's last year but the only games that they have are their old xbox games and halo 2. they bought the 360 but no games just in preparation for halo 3!!!! they should have thought ahead and considered the price drop (or just bought some of the wonderful next gen games)

    How many people who ALREADY own 360s, were the hardcore Halo gamers? If most of them already own their 360, then there won't be a huge jump in console sales when H3 goes on sale.

  room to badmouth NiN because I want to see you (and everyone else) play Bass, Guitar, Drums, vocals, and whatever the hell else he uses all by yourself. Sure, you may not like that genre (if you like Rap, laulz everywhere) but don't say he sucks.
