Timeshift Demo

Thu Aug 30, 2007 at 11:43:33 PM EST

So I just got home, looked online, and found out that a Timeshift demo is up.  Anybody play it yet?  From a few comments I've read, it sounds like it's unexpectedly pretty sweet.  So what are your impressions of it?

  •  I played it..... (none / 0)

and captured footage from it for the site.  It's completely mediocre.  The graphics are just ok, but the gameplay is very old.
  •  yeah (none / 0)

graphics were fine (nothing awesome), and gameplay was lame. Aiming felt weird as well.

Graphics are so so.  Good water effects.  Not sure I am down with the time controls.  I just kept hitting the bumper and didn't get to try too many features on the fly.

It is a bland shooter.  Basic strafe and crouch stuff.  I really miss cover.  In my opinion, MOH is a much better shooter, as far as available demos go.

Halo3 can't get here soon enough!

I just traded in Crapdown and some other old games to get credit towards my Halo3 Pre-Order.  Damnit!!!!!!  It's too long till launch!

Ready to finish all the Fights!

    Slow mo blood popping everywhere.
  •  wow, sucks for the developers... (none / 0)

(I forget who made it) but this is the game they thought was garbage and scrapped it right before it came out and redid it for 360, am I correct? If so, kind of a waste to put in all that effort to get a mediocre game out of it.

I was actually part of the focus group at Vivendi Universal (in West Los Angeles) that trashed the "old" game & suggested that they start over.  Man, this title has done a complete 180.  Michael Ironside and Dennis Quaid were the voice talent that were originally hired, I'm not sure if they are still connected to the project.

Damn!!!  That'd be sweet if they made it in.  I haven't had the chance to dl the demo yet, actually I haven't been on my 'Box for a while, but I love me some shooters, and slow-mo never gets old for me, so hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

  •  anyone else notice that.... (none / 0)

the medium sensitivity, is too low, but high is too high? I noticed this in this game and CoD4 beta, ah well.
  •  Wow (none / 0)

The video at the beginning is the fucking sweetest game video I've ever seen.  The old Bioshock one where he gets drilled is up there, but I think this one takes the cake.

As for the game itself, I loved it.  Killing a guy, rewinding time, killing him again, rewinding time again, and killing him AGAIN does not get old for me.  Also, pausing time, shooting someone in the face with a shotgun, running behind them, starting time again and watching the guy just rocket into you is extremely fun.  I know people say the gameplay is old, but I guess I didn't play enough shooters or something because I haven't grown tired of FPS's.  I know that this is going to be a VERY low-selling game, but I think it's good fun.  If I had the time, I would probably pick this up, but seeing how much time school is taking out of my gaming, the only two games I'm going to buy probably this enitre school year are the Orange Box and either CoD4, Assassin's Creed, or Halo 3.
