She Did It!

I just wanted to follow up on my earlier post about my wife, mami blez, and her quest to run a half marathon.

She was successful!!! I was able to meet her at the finish line along with my daughter to celebrate her accomplishment. She did it in two hours and 58 minutes. She ran the first nine miles, but then at the ninth mile, her knee began to seize up on her, so she walked for a bit and then alternated between walking and running. I was truly awestruck at her accomplishing something so incredible. I know I would never be able to run that far.

Good for her. I am glad to hear you were able to meet her at the finish with the love of your lives(your daughter). There is nothing better in life than sharing those kind of moments with the ones you love most. Congrats!

That is a great accomplishment! Hope you knee heals up soon so you can continue your running. It's good to get outside for fresh air and fitness. Mami Blez, you might want to drag Papi out for a bit of excercise! = )
Maybe somekind of fitness for fun time exchange to counteract the potato effects of gaming and FFF!

  Even the exercise I get I do it indoors because of my knee surgeries. I usually hit the elliptical machine at least three times a week for 50 minutes-hour.

    when I was running without music I was able to do better because I could take my mind off running. But, the Army doesn't do it that way so I had to change my strategy. Now, I run and compete for time. I'm constantly racing the clock....and my pain

I used to run cross country, but was always too chicken to attempt a 1/2 marathon (let alone a full one). That's great for mami!

I can barely run two miles (damn asthma). But wow, running 9 miles? Geesh. It must've been awesome for her to do that whole thing and then end it with meeting up with you and your daughter. Excellent job mami!

It was a wonderful experience, even if it did have highs and lows. My knees feel like a 70-year-old arthritic woman's right now, but I know the pain will pass.
I know I will do this again, whether it's a another half marathon or just a 5K fun run. I had a blast!

    That's exactly what I said to her yesterday. I told her that the pain and soreness would go away but the experience would last her lifetime. Sage people us hockey fans are ;-)

      I'm pumped for NHL 08, my hockey season to startup fall AAA tryouts start tonight (woot), and the NHL. I can't believe at one point this summer I didn't plan on playing hockey.

        i have HUGE respect for. I mean, even just running around of the ice like they do is hard for most. (at least here in the US). Its also VERY injury prone.

        I saw that a while ago on Ebaumsworld and almost shit my pants when I saw that. He lived through it, but died a few months later. Unbelieveable that he lived through that day/night.

        A kid on our school's hockey team got his throat slit by a skate, too, just not that bad. He got around 20 stitches, though.

        hockey is fucking awesome, I really can't over it. I just got back from my first tryout and I don't think I could ever see myself not playing (which will happen eventually) I dunno what it is, but i love it.

i know i dont have the will power to do it. When i run i do about 30-45 min and thats it for me! I do it about 3 days a week but running gets boring for me!! need a partner to push me if not when im tired and ready to stop well i do just that STOP!
