Goldeneye for XBLA Almost Came....Almost

So I guess Goldeneye for XBLA was going to be a reality in a few months, but Rare cancelled it I guess because of money issues. It would have had fewer characters than the N64 version of the game, but everything else would have been the same, plus it would have had XBL multiplayer. Too bad.

a petition going around somewhere... but I think the issue goes beyond what a petition could do, but maybe not. It would be great, but I think everyone has kind of immortalized this game. I have a feeling that if I go back and play it, it won't be nearly as fun as I remember.

MS & Nintendo could not come to an agreement about how they would share the profits from the XBLA release.

    to ensure that that game is available on their platform. It is a system-selling game and it could push some balancing on the fence over to the 360 side.

According to the article, it was Nintendo's boss, Iwata, that pulled the plug because he believed that any title that showed up on any Nintendo console should NOT make an appearance on a competitor's console. It seems like ego has a lot to play in this. I don't know, guys. It looks like Goldeneye on XBLA might be a moot point.

  This is the most logical explanation, and the most ridiculous. Too bad Nintendo can't just say, "Screw it, let the gamer win. Yes, throw it out there, let's all celebrate one of the best games ever made."
