Microsoft and Epic Games, Inc. announced today that “Gears of War 2,” the blockbuster action sequel to the five million unit selling original, has gone gold.

“After two years of pouring our heart and passion into ‘Gears of War 2,’ the team is immensely happy with what we’ve created,” said Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski. "This is Epic’s best work yet, and we can’t wait to see the response from fans and newcomers to the series alike.”

“Gears of War 2” tells the story of humanity's last stand against the nightmarish, underground Locust Horde, and is the follow-up to one of the most popular Xbox 360 games in history. “Gears of War 2” is rated “MA15+” by the Australian Classification Board and will be available exclusively on Xbox 360 with an RRP* of $99.95 ($59.99 USD) for the Standard Edition and $119.95 ($69.99 USD) for the Limited Edition.

With just 28 days until the worldwide launch on Nov. 7, fans can immerse themselves in the “Gears of War” universe through a new experiential Web site, a “Gears of War 2” video documentary series, a “Gears of War” comic book series, novel and special merchandise:

      Especially since I just saw that COD WAW release date just slipped from Oct 23rd to Nov 11th....

      Just think how stressed everyone would be if the new Gears release date was like Jan 23rd or something...

          I do have to say that everytime I look at this game, it is looking better all the time.

          Too bad it launches so close to Nov 7th.   By the time I would be ready to even consider buying/playing this game, we will all probably forgotten about it....

            The laat thing that I want to play is another WW2-era themed game.  I love the BIA series, but it'll have to sit on the backburner.  There are too many other games that will require my undivided attention. ;)  Did anyone check out that new RE 5 trailer from TGS?!?  I know that it was all CGI, but that looked awesome!  Zos & I were Skyping about it last night and the voice acting and art direction are superb!  So many great games coming out in the near future.  Argh, my poor wallet.

              gears 2 , farcry2 and the stock market are the only blips on my screen right now although re 5 looks killer but march is many moons away
              im on the fence about whether to go 360 or ps3 for fc2

    "This is Epic’s best work yet..."

    I've no doubt.  Finally got a chance to watch the Never Fight Alone video in HD (as opposed to ESPN) and WOW was it incredible.  I couldn't believe how much I missed having watched it streamed first - the chipping off of the columns as they shoot to and from cover, and on and on.

    I don't even know what to say.  There is SO much game packed into that little disc, it is just crazy.  I would have pre-ordered the game if it had just been the improved code and the 10 new MP maps with only "Execution".  Instead, we are getting that AND "Wingman" and "Submission", a whole new campaign, and Dirty Dirty Horde.  As far as I am concerned, it is a $300 package. Just spank me and call me Susan. This IS a system seller.  There is just SO much game.  Anyone who buys Gears 2 and a console to play it on, can consider the console to have been thrown in for free, as far as I am concerned.

    Let me also re-cap the Horde vs 4p Co-op vote. There was some disappointment in the exclusion of 4p Co-op, but the vote was unanimously (I think) in favor of Dirty Dirty Horde.  A bit of a risk, not going the easy route of having just more players :cough: Resistance 2 :cough:  I suspect a LOT of developers are going to start providing their own little Horde houses, and pimping out their baddies in similar fashion.  

    "Gears 1.5."   "No innovation."  That is just bunk.  Nothing about what I have seen in the videos looks "Tired", or "Old", or anything but cutting edge tech, gameplay, and graphics. A shout out to Lee Perry (Senior Gameplay Designer) and all of Epic.  Wow, just wow!  And congrats on going GOLD.

    Cheers, 'heads.  We got a game coming that is gonna make us hoot and holler...for years!

    Good morning to all af you Gearheads worldwide,

    I don't know how many of you can remember me. There was a time where I was a little more active on this page some years ago and at least I was able to play with some of you on the FragFest. That was kind of difficult because of the time differnce between the States and Germany. But we managed it someway ;)

    I checked this page from time to time for interesting news and comments on GoW2 and said to myself: "You need to write a comment next time" for so many times. Well, this is it.

    I just wanted to state a few things: The original FragFest was one of the best ideas since the launch of XboxLive. We (in Germany) started a thing called "ThunderFragg Thursday" about a year ago. And it keeps going on and on. We had some good times and some bad times, but when it comes to Gears we all find together (and still hunt the Seriously Achievement ;). Other games came and other games gone, but what stays is: Gears! Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to Papi, for this impressive idea and the original FragFest. (yeah ... and also to Cliffy for the game :-)

    Now the second chapter is coming up and 9 from 10 voices in my head yell out: NERD ALERT! NERD ALERT! NERD ALERT! (the other one is buzzing the Tetris theme...) I can't tell you how crazy the people here are waiting for this game. We pre-ordered it months ago and the closer we get to Emergence Day 2, people have no other topic than this game. It's amazing what EPIC did (and will do) with Gears of War.

    I'll try to check this page more often and give you some impression what the Gears2 launch will do to german players ;)
