UFC's Dana White calls out Elite XC

Sun Oct 12, 2008 at 09:23:45 PM EST

For all you MMA fans out there, you guys have got to check out this YouTube vid!  Dana White calls out the promoters of the Elite XC for their low-down dirty fight fixes.  These Elite XC fools are the ones trying to pump up Kimbo Slice like he's the "next big thing."  Now Elite XC are being investigated by the Florida Gaming Commission for allegedly fixing the heavyweight fight between Slice and Petruzelli.  Elite XC gave Petruzelli a chance to fight Slice only if he agreed not to go down to the ground for a submission.  Wow.  Talk about a complete travesty and a black eye to the sport of MMA!

Here's UFC's Dana White going off: UFC's Dana White Calls out Elite XC

Here's the fight that's allegedly fixed: Kimbo Slice vs. Seth Petruzelli (Elie XC)

Update [2008-10-12 21:22:33 by Blankman]: I was forced to re-post this diary because someone placed a link in his post to the opening cutscene for the Gears 2 Campaign.  Please read the diary regarding spoilers, cutscenes, and media that will ruin people's experience.

  •  Elite XC (none / 0)

is done for anyway now that there "star" is is proven to be a fraud. This is not kimbos fault though he is a very humble man and never claimed to be good. They have a weak roster and bad lineups. I hope they go out of business for being an embarrassment to the sport.

    •  Yeah, Kimbo has no real ground game or... (none / 0)

submissions skills; at least not enough to go toe-to-toe with a lot of the MMA professionals that are out there.  People saw another Tank Abbott and thought that this guy was the next headliner.  He got his 15 minutes of fame, but he's essentially an upstart company's whipping boy now.  The Elite XC is a joke and now that allegations are out that they tried to place stipulations on the fight, they have thrown any shot of legitimacy out of the window.  This actually hurts Slice's career because he'll be the butt end of MMA jokes.  He's really the biggest loser in the end since no one, as in terms of a legitimate promoter, will give him a contract now.

Gears is MY Star Wars!!! Wooohhh!!!

    •  do you wanna be a fucking fighter? (none / 0)

shaws knew this day would come but what a dumbass to even suggest/imply publicly that seth stand and that there is nothing wrong with that, what a dumbfuck

rutten and f. shamrock have both said in the past slice was not ready for prime time but shaw was looking for a splash and rode the kimbo wave as long as he could. anyone who follows mma knows that a fighter must be well rounded in order to compete at a top level, thats just common sense

at least now slice will be regulated to the undercard, they can feed him cans til his ground game is ready

slice has a chin, thompson had him in half guard with his arms pinned and punched slice at least 25 times in the face and the ref didnt stop the fight  and had the balls to stand them up and slice went off on thompson exploding his califlower with a right cross, so wtf, seth throws a jab and floors slice

      i stinks of a fix

white is so charming, but he is successful and no one can argue with that

i hope xc can set up the arloski/ fedor fight

then fedor can jump to ufc and kick ass

carano can sink her triangle on me anytime

i always felt the toad got shafted

  •  Personally, I never considered it (none / 0)

to be anything other than slightly more "honest" than Wrestling.  I don't mean to offend fans of either UFC or Wrestling, but I have too much respect for the martial arts, to think that anyone who actually knows what they are doing would NOT do serious injury or be seriously injured in every fight.  Either you pull your punches or you don't.  If you don't, but have been trained to punch and kick properly, then you break bones and backs in almost every fight.  Martial arts aren't ballet - they were developed to take and save lives.

Anyway, to the fans of the sport, I am sorry to hear that it has to go through this scandal.  Regardless of whether it was "real" or not, the entertainment value was never in question.

    (Great pic, btw!)

    •  no offense taken (none / 0)

fighters do get their bones broken, joints hyperextended, lacerated, choked unconscious and concussions may be frequent.
there has been one death that i am aware of the only one i can remember is an american that died in a russian mma tourney a some years back.

referees are trained to spot when a guys is about to have his elbow popped or ankle broken etc etc.
but the fighter knows when he is caught in a hold that will have serious implications if he doesnt tap.
no doubt it is a very serious deal for these fighters because of the inherent danger.

these fighters are cross trained in boxing, muay thai, jiu jitsu, wrestling, taekwando, sambo, karate and other forms because this is now the norm.
for instance if a fighter is deficient in muay thai not only will he get ktfo then he will probably be limping for weeks because he couldnt properly defend the leg kicks
this goes for any fighting style, you have to be well versed and dynamic in order to survive

do you know of hidehiko yoshida? he is from japan and won gold medal in judo in 92
he fights in mma and is one tough sob, he's had many memorable fights in pride
there are olympic wrestlers as well as collegiate in the fight game
i guess my point is the sport has really matured since the early days when headbutts were allowed fighters with serious credentials are now in the game

but when promoters are pulling the kind of shite shaw did i can see where non fans of the sport are skeptical and wary and think of it as another form of pro wrestling

you should fly to atlanta in november, ill take you to the pink pony
      nothing like t-n-a and ufc

      and cold beer

  •  is anybody gonna (none / 0)

be watching the Lesner vs Couture fight in Nov

    •  i am (none / 0)

lesnar is a fn beast and he will have cardio, but so will the natural

i think coutures only chance is on the feet

if that big bastard gets him down he may get his face caved in, but couture is smart so he may pull a arm bar or triangle and make lesnar cry

      im going with couture
only because he is so well versed in mma

couture wont have to cut weight either
lesnar most certainly will, that may factor into the later rounds

but i wouldnt be surprised if lesnar pulls out a victory

i always felt the toad got shafted

    •  After seeing the fight (none / 0)

of Couture and Sylvia, I can't see the Natural being beat. Just the way he was dodging the Maniac's punches was RIDICULOUS!!! But I know Lesnar a big-ass guy (I saw him back in the day in Wrestling a bit) and now he's even bigger. I haven't seen Lesnar in an MMA fight, but I hear he has some decent ground game. Or I may just be mistaken for someone else.

Along with my impossible Career Dreams list is becoming an MMA Fighter. An old Bakery shop just got bought out I saw last Thursday and it's turning into an MMA shop now. I don't know if they're going to be doing some training too, but if they are I'm thinking of joining up and learning some Martial Arts. But anyways, I'd love to be a Muay Thai/Jiu Jistsu as my main styles, and some old school boxing for stand-up. I'd love just to Ground and Pound someone... But, at first I HATED groundwork, but it's pretty much a necessity now since if you're better at ground game than you're opponent, you can just MANHANDLE them. WEC Wreckage is also a pretty good MMA Program if anyone didn't know. It's on the VS. channel if anyone gets it.

  •  I read about Kimbo losing... (none / 0)

to that dude. Frankly, I had heard of Elite XC and wondered who the hell they were. I saw internet vids of Kimbo and that doesn't prove a damn thing. One of my buds was rabid about the guy. Me, I didn't really care. I watch UFC. If another company comes up that proves to be worth a damn, I'll take notice. But until then, it's UFC all the way for me.
