Don't go by reviews. Form your own opinion about the games based on footage and what not and decide from there. If you can't decide then just rent them both and see which one you like better.

fable IMO dosen't look anything special

Fable has my vote. How many shooters do I need this year? I am still going strong on Gears, Halo 3, COD4 and just finally picked up the orange box. Far Cry is pretty but that is about all I can see that makes me want it. With Gears 2 and some of the other shooters coming, I don't think Far Cry would hold my interest long enough.

Fable on the other hand you won't find many other games like it around. I am more looking for something different than something pretty right now. Gears 2 will give me all the blood soaked shooter action I need, Fable will give me fun with questing and becoming the most evil bastard to ever rule the world!
