Went to the Best Buy 'Gaming Invasion' thing at Dundas Square. *if any of you have spotted me, I'm the asian kid with a checkered white and black sweater :D

Got to play around 5 games of Gears 2 [talk about that later]
Got to play NHL 09
Rock Band 2
That Rockstar Racing Game.. forgot what it's called? Midnight Club? Lmfao
And heard Mobile's performance [which was really good!]

That's all I did for around 3-4 hours.
I'll comment about how AMAZING Gears 2 was later. Be back soon~

  •  MULTIPLAYER (none / 0)

*this was taken from a GameTrailers Forum by me:

I just played the multiplayer demo at Dundas Square. [Located in Toronto, Canada]

I played Horde, Submission, Execution, and Wingman  [majority = Horde]

The game is amazing. It feels VERY different but I did adjust after playing around 2 hours of it. The game is way more sluggish and that Mortar weapon.. holy shit, that destroys ANYTHING. I got to choose any map + mode then in the pre-lobby, you get to choose to switch teams using 'Y' and then choosing your character [All Original Gears People /except A.Carmine + Tai, Dizzy, B.Carmine- All Original Locusts- with 2-3 new ones but I don't know what they're called]

Let me tell you about the BOTS. They are hard / cheap as hell. I'm not a noob; I can say that with confidence. But these Bots are insane.. literally. When this guy and I pit against each other with Difficulty INSANE Bots on, it is mostly a definite one to two hit kill for them with their shotty from medium to close range... that is MOST LIKELY how the shotty is now, but it usually took me a point-blank shot to take those bastards down; oh well. Other than their extreme accuracy.. their AI is shit. I hope they fix it- they keep covering on places even though their opponent is a few feet away from them and they can easily blast'em to pieces.

    Extra Facts..

Sniper + LT + Right Stick for COG is a blue outlining of the sniper.

Sniper + LT + Right Stick for LOCUST is a red outlining of the sniper.

I got melee'd and I did get stunned. [Horde mode]

No active down with sniper [Horde, Execution]

    • Got to play 'Pavillion- or w.e it is called', 'River', 'Day One [Got boring.. really fast]', and one more Map that people have seen a lot of [forgot the name].

Well, feel free to ask any questions. Thanks.

    •  Colt, thanks very much for taking the time (none / 0)

to write up your impressions. I think that even though you got stunned by a melee in horde mode, vs will probably be stun free, and it is only against the living that I really dislike the stun.

Very cool about the sniper rifle.  I suspect Zeus is steepling his hands right now, and whispering, "Exxxcelllent!"

As for the bots, that is a little disappointing (though not really surprising because of the complexity of the task), but my main purpose for employing them will be to practice using the power weapons.  So, no real biggie.

      Questions:

      A. Can you change the round duration from pre-lobby.  After reading about Wingman's Achilles Heel, the Okie Dokey Corral waiting for the professional campers to finish the round, I figured it would be nice to simply shorten the time from say, 6 minutes, to 3 minutes or something.  Being able to change duration on the fly could be useful.

      B. Did you feel that the Lancer shot a more even/steady/accurate stream of bullets?  (did you notice any difference?)

      C. What gametype were you playing on Day 1, that it seemed to get boring so quick.  Everything I have seen of it in the various vids, makes it seem like a cool map.

      D. What did you think of submission? Did you enjoy it, or did it seem gimmicky?

All that is gold does not glitter.

I have to disagree with the bots. I played horde and thought they did a really good job of flanking and such. And the only reason they stayed in one spot was because they were focused on my buddy and got to sneak up on him.

Also I think we were playing on old build of the game because 1. The sniper execution wasn't the one we all know and love, he just spun it around and thumped the guy with the butt end of it, and also when I grabbed a meatshield (which is EXTREMELY effective i might add, story at the end of my post) some sort of line of code would show up where the scoring is and would say something about locust meatshield reaction error and the locust in front of me would act like they got shot or a grenade went off and they covered their faces which was kinda weird.

Also I at first I found the control to be a little slippery. And it didnt seem as responsive as Gears 1. Now it could be the hardware or theres some sort of delay with the TV, cause in the GH4 section the timing was off, Im hoping thats what it was.

All those internet videos? They do the game no justice. Seeing the game on an HD tv is absolutely incredible, we got some pictures with my garbage camera and Mr.Goggles' phone, we have one where you can see me headshotting someone. The new headshot animation is actually kind of a fountain after you remove their face which is kind of cool.

Something else i noticed, in the controller section, you can change your sensitivity for 3 settings, in the third person view, while aiming, and while zoomed, you can have 3 different settings if you want.

When i played horde with Mr.Goggles the first time we, with just the two of us, they kicked us off because we didnt die. And when i played again with average the Best Buy people were asking US "What the smoke that comes off your gun is when you hit B"

Now for story time, Its horde, I forget what the map name is, but its the one with the seeder in the middle, that didnt pop up for me (maybe disabled in horde?) anyways, average and I are just destroying the locust, hes upstairs on the ledge shooting people from a decent vantage point, while Im on the ground fighting the good fight. I pinched by 2 locusts on one side, and a flamethrower locust and another random one. I whip out the shiny new hammerburst, headshot one of the two in front of me, down the other, roadie run meatshield him, whip around and own the other 2 with a pistol while being flamed on and taking almost no damage cause of my meatshield. It was sick. I tried out MOST of the new weapons but I'll save that for my diary with pictures and such.

      •  Thanks Suns (none / 0)

        A. Yeah, you can. Once we wanted to choose a different mode/map when we were playing Horde; we pressed Start- Return to Lobby.
There we could Choose one of four maps, all the modes, time, bleed out, etc.

        B. The Lancer felt amazing. I took down those Butchers in 1 and a half clips which is incredible in my opinion. I don't think there was much recoil but I think the amp'd the power in that gun; I killed so many Drones with it :D

        C. Day 1 = Horde. My cousin and I got bored of Day 1 so easily. I don't know, it felt too simple of a map and wasn't attracting anyone's attention.

        D. Submission was great! Even though those BOTS killed me really fast, it was so sweet. I loved how I threw a smoke into an enemy meatshielding the Stranded and they both flew in different directions. My cousin hated it but he'll get used to it :D

were so retarded. They thought the game was being released next week. Also they knew nothing of the game.

  •  How far did you get in Horde? (none / 0)

And how helpful did you find the new tagging features of the grenades?

  •  I played Horde about 3 times. (none / 0)

  •  So what's the general consensus for those... (none / 0)

that played. Are the controls (and responsiveness) better or worse?

Saving real lives, taking virtual ones. The circle is COMPLETE.

    •  We discussed this after playing as its something (none / 0)

we all noticed. We came to the conclusion that it might have been the TV's not being calibrated as well as the game being in an early build(execution for the snipe was wrong)

      •  I also noticed that (none / 0)

the resolution was almost too high for the screen, the gun icon was kind of out of the screen. It was quickly put together, the entire event, you could tell. And Also we went when it first started before they could really work the kinks out.

I honestly dont think that, in terms of responsiveness let something like that slide, gears 1 was known for tight controls, and I've played some shitty games that were more responsive than than what we played on Friday. Im sure it'll be fine.
