Bonus Round - Gears 2 and Resistance 2

The new Bonus Round is up and half of it is about Gears 2.  Lots of fun, and one thing it got me thinking, is that Microsoft may actually be saving their big bucks for AFTER the release, rather than before.  Maybe it is just a matter of timing, that Microsoft is still waiting to really hit people in Mid November through to the end of the holidays with ads during football games (as Blank and MDK were talking about on Skype) etc. etc.

Also, I think Jeff just nailed it when he describes Resistance 2 and compares that with Halo and Gears.

Anyway, the show is a hoot.

    what shooter I'm the next most excited for.  I think Far Cry 2 might be my number two choice right behind Gears 2 (obviously!).  I've heard a lot of really good initial buzz about it.

    Then again, Left 4 Dead looks like it's going to be a blast co-op and Call of Duty: WaW is shaping up to look more and more like COD4 instead of COD3.

    God this gaming season is going to be incredible.

      Gears 2 and Left4Dead was frickin' hilarious.  He talked about the campaign unveil of Gears 2 and how he thought "there is no way I can do that" and then he says of L4D "I can do that."  As regards L4D, he kind of echoed my sentiments of when I saw the Methane Zombie, I can do that - I can "blow" people away with my gas!  

      As regards Gears 2, I think he will enjoy zipping through campaign on "Casual" mode...on the backs of slaves...facing pitiful enemies.

      I appreciate his enthusiasm and honesty.

    Cant wait for Left4Dead. CoD: WaW actually looks pretty decent. I might have to try it out after  my Gears 2 binge is over. Resistance 2 is meh to me.. FarCry 2 will definitely be a buy for me after L4D comes out.

    that resistance 2 won't be that great. Giant bosses don't make a great game. Gears 2, Fable 2, L4D, and LBP are my picks.

    Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but one thing I'm just dumbfounded by is the lack of good advertising from Microsoft. Up until just recently, there was almost zero commercials for the Xbox 360 and its games only get about one commercial that doesn't even seem to be that well done.

    I'm really looking for them to really get out there and promote Gears and the Xbox with some quality ads!

      As for the marketing window, I don't know.  Think of it, building hype is very important, but if the game isn't out yet, people can't buy it anyway.  If they save their bucks till Mid-November, and then every time you turn on the boob-tube, you get bombarded with milky Gears goodness, thing is, you can just run to the store right then, and BUY the thing, if not for yourself, for your friends or kids for Christmas.

      So, I am going to wait and see.  Anyway, if they follow through with dumping the bucks in advertising Epic's game (even if it is later than earlier), I will be very happy for MS and Epic.
