Friday Night FragFest: November 14, 2008 - Hooray for the Horde Edition

Gearheads, I finished Gears of War 2's campaign last night. Yes, I did. And wow, I'll just say that it was amazing. I'll have a review coming sometime next week. I'm trying to hold off writing the review until I think that everyone here has completed the game because I want to talk about the story in great detail.

So that leaves the campaign co-op on insane with a willing participant, Horde and multiplayer. I want to experience more Horde this Friday. I did it on Normal last week with Kenai, silent strike and tyrus. I figure I want to up the experience to hardcore this time and start from the beginning. So if that sounds good to you, sign up below for that. Or if you'd rather play some of the other MP modes, you can sign up for that too. But I really want to do more Horde this week now that I've beaten the campaign.

I'll be on starting around 8-8:30 p.m. PST as usual. Oh and congrats to my bro and the entire Epic team for having epic sales of Gears. The game has already surpassed two million sold. It took about a full month to do that last time. I couldn't be more proud of my little bro.

We're on Wave 37 of Horde on Insane at the Day One map. Jambi, Robbins, Infidel, Really Doe, Grymm, Degrees, Pure Rage, and myself basically make up the crew. Some of the guys alternate from time to time. The Horde gave up throwing the kitchen sink at us, now they're throwing the entire house! :P Wave 50 Insane or Bust!

    one level away from the hoard the horde achievement
    got to find a match on level 19 so i can clear level 20

I will NOT fall asleep this time. I'm psyched to play Horde mode. I have tried it with bots.

Papi, you were right, for some reason my on-line status was set to "BLOCKED", i think my son did it. I'm going to change it and everyone can see me then.

But i will be playing all night, i'm ready.

Maybe not for Horde, but definitely for some normal MP. I also need someone to do a quick co-op sesh with me from Act 3 to Act 4 (the only chapters I havent got for co-op). But after that, I'll help anyone with co-op, no matter what difficulty. I'll be on after work!

Thank you guys for not posting spoilers. I'm only on Act III as I promised my wife a while back that I would only play on weekends. Sometimes I cheat though... Like Monday when her girlfriends took her out.

Or right now while she's at ballet practice with Liv (my 6 year old) and the boys.

FFF sounds like just what the Doctor ordered!

I'm up for Anything. Would really like to get a room of 10 together for a while and try out the new modes. I haven't even played most gametypes.. Just Horde and Execution.

I'm so incredibly frustrated with the matchmaking in this game right now. I sat for 15 minutes trying to get in a match with no success. I'm going to pick up CoD WaW tomorrow so I might end up playing that.

nothing short of incredible. I compared Gears 1 & 2 to Alien and Aliens. Both are incredible, but the sequel here has actually raised the bar and gone in directions I never even could have fathomed. That's part of the reason the game's selling like hotcakes.

I am sure that the hosts will do everything they can to make sure that everyone is in a room. Please be patient and understanding. Also, don't forget that aside from Horde mode, there are BOTS to entertain us while we are waiting for spots to open up. Have fun!

I would also like to suggest the following: (none / 0)

We should feel free to turn off notifications on FFF night. I think that with the concentration required for Horde (and other modes), people will start to get angry if they have a ton of notifications popping up all the time. This is especially important now that we can "spam" a bit with the "Invite all" feature.

Feel free to turn off notifications but then every time there is a natural break (end of wave, round or match) please just give everyone the courtesy of checking your messages and replying when possible/appropriate.

Some people are probably doing this already. I just want to offer that it be an "officially" sanctioned practice. What do you think?
