FFF recap/thoughts on the game...

Wow.

This game is so fun. Sure all of you know and agree with that.

I mainly spent Friday playing Horde. Earlier in the game I got a small taste of MP with the GearHeads in public and private matches. But around 10 PM EST, I hosted a room with one of my buds. Obi Juan joined us for a while as we fought the Locust Horde. PMS Legend briefly stopped by. At the mid twenties to thirties, Obi headed out but we got Kenai, Papi, and SilentStrike.

It was ridiculous, to say the least.

We played on Casual at "Day One." Our main place where we made our stand was at the Regency Hotel (Continental Breakfast included). One of the more ridiculous moments occurred where we tried to mix things up and stayed in the street instead of opting for the safety of higher ground. Needless to say, the results were amusing, but tragic. In a matter of minutes the entire team was cut to ribbons by a trigger happy Grinder. It happened so quick, I just laughed my ass off. Seriously, we were all dead in like twenty seconds.

Another favorite moment occurred around Wave 47-49. We were getting our asses handed to us. A new strategy was in order, so I came up with the bright idea of holding up in the Arcade below the building with the big blue sign. It was actually cool, because there's a counter back there. We ended up killing a Mauler, I took his shield and planted it right in front of the doorway leading to the counter in the back of the arcade. Definitely helped, but didn't save us, as evidenced here (Papi in the foreground):

Eventually, we pulled back to the Regency.

Here's a small taste of what it was like (Kenai at right):

There was actually way more bullets than pictured, and there were so many explosions, it was ridiculous. Countless times, we were uttering colorful expletives.

But it all came together in Wave 50. Had to really, we had no other choice. Everyone stocked up on ammo and hunkered down on top of the Regency. I got a Mauler's shield and placed it at our left, creating a barrier for enemies to get caught up on.

For me, the coolest moment was in the last few minutes. We had two to three Blood Mounts run up on us. But everyone trained a Lancer on 'em. It was a sight to behold. So frickin' cool.

But even cooler than that was the teamwork in the end. We were reviving one another and combining fire like no one's business. And we all lived. It was AWESOME.

Coming off that is hard, but I'll briefly touch on campaign, spoiler free. Basically, it goes like this: I didn't think they could make the Gears universe more awesome, but they did. The game has gone in directions I didn't even fathom. It's a testament to Cliffy and the team at Epic. I think I'm about halfway, and I have to say, it's just incredible. They also manage to pull at the heartstrings without coming off as lame or detracting from the characters. Really, really love it. Can't wait to see where it goes, or how it ends.

Just awesome.

Well, that's the spiel. Love you all. See ya on Serra!

communication is one of the main ingredients in defeating the bloody horde, the placement of those shields really makes a difference.  i played on insane today with some heads and it was crazy hard
with minimal success.  bluehazes recap suggested nades to watch your back and to also alert you which works great, used that tactic today. what really gets my blood pumping is when you have to venture out of your "camp" to replentish you ammo and power weapons, dont have to go to far though, horde comes searching for you.

...and then it came to pass and rock and roll was born

By wave 50, I figured out that the Shield is BadAss!

I stood on the stairway and Gorgon pistoled the Hell out of those Bloodmounts.  They couldn't get past me and believe it or not, couldn't knock me over or even hurt me while I had my shield.

Killed all three of them in a few seconds.

After that, wave 50 was cake.

    Too much Fun!!!

    See you all tonight!

Me, Blank, Degrees, adn a combo of Zoso, Average, Circuitz, and JonE, and Wonka beat wave 50 on the HArdcore, and it was certainly pretty beastly and difficult to beat

Like always I've been having connections issues with my DSL and even do I'm paying for  'elite DSL ' still the same, now my wireless router is too old and need to get a new one, is dropping the connection and restarting every 20 - 50 minutes and is getting annoying.

Besides Friday night I don't think I headed out, I just fall asleep while waiting for the next match to start.

This baby business is getting to me, or I'm just feeling my age, I had the entire weekend for myself to play since my birthday was last Thursday the 6th but got so tire Friday night that I played maybe 3 hours at best and none of them were after midnight. on Saturday night same thing I joined Blankman and could not keep up, I was like the crippled-rookie soldier trying just not to get killed and I was not even able to accomplished that either.

Thanks for all the invites, I will keep practicing and talking more as well. Guess can't be the quiet type anymore.

Sorry, blankman I only have a digital watch!!!!!

OOOOh, I have been there, and in fact, still half there.  After work, I rushed home to play campaign.  I finished Act 1 and then helped the boys with their studies, and then hit the sack.  I SO wanted to play, but I was SO tired.
