What say you?

Sun Feb 10, 2008 at 09:28:27 PM EST

Hmmmm, I've been wondering.

How did you guys go about finding this site and roughly when?

I was reffered by Josh (Grymm) and I joined around March '07.

What about you guys?

Interesting Fact: 246
The world's tallest living man is Ukranian Leonid Stanyk.
However, at 8ft 4in (2.54m) he has someway to go to beat the tallest man on record.
That honour goes to Robert Wadlow, an Illinois man who died at 8ft 11in (2.71m) in 1940 at the age of 22.

  •  Ah, I'm not exactly sure. (none / 0)

I lurked around this site for a couple months before actually joining.  I think I officially joined somewhere along the lines of March-April of '07.

I found this site because of some random Gears of War searching online a while after I got XBL (January '07.)

::cough:: I was asked to come help out here when on the official EPICGAMES forums by Cliffy B. ::cough::

Originally of gearsforums.epicgames.com and gowgamer.com fame.

Good times on the official forums. Better times on gowgamer, and the BEST times here at gearheadsofwar!

  •  I found the site... (none / 0)

through the guys at GameVideos.  I'd be playing with them regularly when they played against you guys in a challenge match.
  •  I found this site after Zosy stop posting... (none / 0)

on a regular basis on the official Epic forum.  I was the ninth member of the official site when it first launched, but I didn't post very often.  I started lurking around gowgamer & eventually found this site through that site in a roundabout way.  It's been awesome ever since!

Yeah, we were tight like that. Then I said @(#*&% MySpace and deleted that crap.

But for a time, it was good...

Don't you guys have a log of when people joined up.  I think I joined up about the same time as Polandstyle, maybe a little later.  Pollee introduced me to Papi, who then told me about this place.  So, I joined up.  Then I never posted anything for like a year, until recently.  When I finally decided to get a computer.

  •  I (none / 0)

found it on the official Epic website.  I signed up the day after they played against Cliffy on FFF, so that really sucked LOL.  I know I wouldn't play online as much as I do if I wouldn't of found this great community.

  •  I found it.. (none / 0)

August '06, or sometime around then.  I think I searched, "Gears of War Countdown" or something like that because I wanted to know the EXACT amount of time between then and when the game launched.  If any of you remember, right at the very top of the page was an active timer running, counting down to Emergence Day.

So I guess Google did me good!

I only started posting 7/22/07 apparently.  So I guess in one way I've been here longer than some of you, and in another I've been here much less time.

Weird that it took that long for me to join up.  Seems strange to me now that I lurked here for almost a straight year :S.

  •  I found the (none / 0)

site around July of '06, but didn't join until around the time Gears was released.  I've been mostly a lurker, as before I got married, I had to leave town to see my (then) fiance, and could never make it to FFFs.

Now I'm getting a little more involved, as I can actually show up for the fun on Fridays.  I'm also somewhat active at destructoid, as those guys are really cool too.

  •  visited the site (none / 0)

  •  It's great hearing everyone's stories (none / 0)

    of coming to GearHeads!

My first encounter with the site was late summer of '06 right as we were gearing up for the game coming out.

I started emailing papi and soon he had helped out the charity I was in charge of, helping our event become a huge success. We became friends and I've been here daily ever since =)

  •  What say you Young Squire?! (none / 0)

I can't even remember when I first joined, but I do remember how it happened. I was playing some Gears with none other than yours truly, Lord Zoso, and he said that this site was gonna be playing with Cliffy for a FFF. And I asked where to go to sign up and he told me of this lovely Heaven. However, my first appearance was back while I was aptly called GrymmReepur999 and I stumbled into a FFF game with Zoso, Papi, Damn Boris I believe, and a few others, and that's when I officially became a Gearhead.

  •  Well (none / 0)

it all happened about a year ago. It was February of 07. I was in a computer class, and we were doing a project on careers, and i said that i wanted to be a video game design or a computer programmer. We had to make a brochere, and put a famous person from the career that you choose. I picked cliffy B because i wsa an advid fan of GOW, and while googling Cliffy B, i came along this website. Ive never left since then.

    What say YOU?
  •  Hahaha... (none / 0)

I was looking up glitches for Gears of War and this site came up for some reason. I think MDK (I have no idea where he went) posted a video of some guy climbing the warehouse in Fuel Depot.

I was used and abused right after everyone first heard. :(

  •  i hath (none / 0)

be relatively n00bish to this site. Boxin got me into it sometime late 2007.

And with reference to the interesting fact, i watched a special on tv about him. Apparently he had a disorder which made him constantly grow, and it could have possibly killed him. But somehow he was, for a lack of a better word, "healed". I'm ukranian as well so i was pretty interested as soon as i heard about it
