COD4 Maps Coming Soon

It turns out that we'll be seeing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare maps, drumroll please...sometime this spring.

Wait, seriously? We're going to have to wait at least more than another month? That seems like an especially long time. At the same time, I'm still learning the intricacies of the current maps, so it's not that frustrating. I just hope that they give us a patch before the maps come.

Speaking of COD4 and Infinity Ward, I have an interview with IW coming to Gearheads tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about it since it was my GOTY 2007 so make sure you come and visit Gearheads tomorrow (and really why WOULDN'T you? ;-)

I mean, we don't even have the patch yet we've been patiently waiting for. I think we all assumed more maps were to come.

While I have played all the maps a LOT.. (none / 0)

I still enjoy them. I find new strategies for each map all the time. Overgrown is a map that I play vastly differently since the beta, to adapt to how other people's games have changed. It's interesting looking for the "hot spots" (areas where people seem to meet) in the map, and how they change.
That being said, I can't wait for the patch and for new maps. The lack of word since the patches announcement early on had me convinced that they had all but forgotten us. Also, Halo 3 is slated to have a 2nd map pack come out in April, and if they can get two out in the time (plus one month) that CoD can get one, I will be a little disappointed. Granted, CoD is out for more platforms, but it shouldn't make that big of a difference.
One thing that sets CoD apart from other shooters in my mind are the maps. I love almost all of them. Bloc and Wet Work blow, but I just think that because I think they encourage camping.

  many maps were shipped with Halo 3 compared to how many were shipped with COD4. I dont know the numbers so I could be shoving my foot in my mouth as I type but Im almost certain that COD shipped more than halo3

Question for IW: (none / 0)

Where did the idea of persistent perks come from? "Perks" in COD4 are always with your character and not deployable or picked up along the way. This to me seems new to the shooter genre. We haven't seen this level of customization in a FPS before. I personnally love this feature more than just jazzing up the way your character looks.
If maps are on the horizon for DLC, then can we expect additional perks? If not, why not? Prestige points should unlock additional perks, right?
Oh, when does IW expect to incorporate more detail in cover mechanics? Is this a battlefield aspect they intend to develop into their next game? Why or why not?
Maybe you can throw one or two of these questions at them Papi?

  are 2 open blocks for extra perks that are never used when you reach your 55. So we could look into that and say that there are 2 possible perks coming or we can just ignore.
