A microsoft Wii-mote?

Mon Apr 07, 2008 at 08:42:33 PM EST

We could see one by the end of the year, according to Kotaku.  According to this article, Microsoft is planning on their own rip off of the Wii mote.  With the Wii mote there's going to be a avatar creation system similar to the Miis.  This looks pretty interesting, and if Microsoft does this well they could take away at least some of the momentum Nintendo's motion sensor based gaming as accumulated.

If MS is able to pull this off, the next thing they'll need is a port of Major League Eating: The Game

I dunno about a Wii-mote shaped device. You know the whole stuffing food in your face motion... and the shape... and.... lost teeth, and other....motions....

...... I'm not trying to be a jackass or anything, I'm being serious, i think its kind of ridiculous.

  •  Well, some sort of more appropriate interface (none / 0)

has to be made. Motion control is both fun and intuitive and can even work for FPS. The reviews for the controls of Wii MoH (I think it was) were stellar over at IGN.  With tweak-ability, they said it was close to or better than mouse and keyboard for pinpoint accuracy and ease of use.

the Bungie/Microsoft split - it is coming before the end of the year and it is currently code-named the Newton.

It is an almost certain release.  Expect it.

You know, as soon as Nintendo announced the Wii, I knew that Microsoft and Sony would be adding that kind of controller, though I was beginning to wonder if it wouldn't be until the machine after the 360.

I am interested to see what the developers do with it.  Can you imagine sports games with the motion controls but 360 graphics?  I think it is a fantastic idea, but am wary about how it will be embraced in this generation, for the 360.
