Gears 2, Emotional-Really?

Tonight while two giants were facing off on American Idol, another battle was taking place- The battle for your emotions...and you didn't even know it. Coming from an interview with OXM UK, the voice actor for "Dom" in Gears of War 2, Carlos Ferro, says the following of Epic's big sequel:

"It's going to be more emotionally effecting than Bioshock. A lot happens."

While I applaud the direction it seems Gears 2 may be headed, they have a lot of work to do on the "emotional" end in comparison to Bioshock. About the only emotion found in the first game could be salvaged from certain members of the MLB...;)

I wouldn't really consider Bioshock "emotional," though, but to be honest, I can't think of any game as emotional. I agree that it seems a bit farfetched to say Gears 2 is going to strike emotions from people, but his comparison may not be that unlikely.

I'm feeling California and looking Minnesota.

  perspective though, personally i thought it was tough to make the first choice between killing or saving the little sisters after you learn about how they came to be. I just couldn't sacrifice them anymore.
  Also, biggest emo-moment in gaming history for me, Final Fantasy 7 when Aeris dies. I was like 8 or 9, and i think I almost cried. At this point in my life it probably wouldn't affect me as much, but as a little kid, it really hurt, I never saw it coming.

I'm afraid that Gears 2 will be scrutinized... (none / 0)

for its' "better story" since Dom's vo-cap actor, Carlos Ferro, basically dropped his take on things. Just because he put in his two cents doesn't mean that Epic per se has upped the standard of storytelling for games. I just hope that the critics don't ding Gears 2's ratings for their "emotional storytelling" if it doesn't work out the way that they intended.

    because if everyone hated him, he wouldnt be working there.
    Also don't you find all this whining to be a little stupid? A couple people were saying how much the gamerscore means nothing and the gamerpoints mean nothing, yet they complain that they can't get them in 1 game.
    I read one comment the guy said, its fine, they could even increase it to 200 if they allowed it in Ranked, unranked, and Single player.
