Friday Night FragFest: June 20, 2008 - The Summer Doldrums Edition

Man, I am so amped for FFF this week. I've been really stressed and busy with work and I'm just looking forward to relaxing with a Fat Tire or two and playing some Gears.

So I don't really have much else to offer other than asking you to sign up below. I'll be on starting around 8:30 p.m. or so PST.

Can't wait to hang out with my fellow Gearheads and relax a bit. I'm needing it.

I'm going to try to make it, i will be on later due to going to see Type O Negative for the 16th time (whatever it was), Hatebreed, 3 inches of blood and Scalera. So i will be wound when i get home which should be around 1am ET or a bit later.

  I can't believe you're going to those concerts, man. That's some crazy shiz.
  BTW, do you know if Fat Tire has more alcohol in it than most beers? I swear that one goes to my head more quickly than others. It's much like BJ's Jeremiah Red...that bad boy always seems to make me loopy after a smaller amount than most beer.

    The Mothership Wit is excellent as well. But yeah FT is what 6% or close to it. We cannot get any Fat Tire out here yet at least or Lost Abbey.
    Did you try that one with the Wormwood in it? Found out that in past history they used Wormwood instead of hops....
    Hey you know me, i go crazy.

If folks want to get an idea as to how the Gears destructible cover gameplay is going to function, you should check out the newest Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway trailer since it was built using the same engine.

  Thanks for the link Tyler. Looks real good, wasn't a huge fan of Brothers in Arms tho to be honest - reminds me of the older COD's.

    Many of you have already added them to your friends list. Thank you. They use "Friends Only" settings, and that will not change for a long time. I am not asking anyone to change their style of play. If people can try to watch their language a little, I think that is really cool. Really, the four letter words don't bother me, it is more the Full Metal Jacket type lengthy references to skulls and other parts of the body that I would rather they not hear (though that kind of talk rarely happens). If things get pretty rough, they will take it upon themselves to just mute individuals from the dashboard for a while. Ultimately, as tyrus pointed out in another thread, this is a mature rated game, and were there laws, my boys wouldn't even be able to play. Yet, as Kenai pointed out in that same thread, when you can't wrestle bulls, sometimes you just need to blow stuff up. We don't live on a ranch, so we blow stuff up in the virtual world.
    Actually, the main reason for going ahead and letting them jump into Gears, is because I hate playing separately from them. This should be an excellent opportunity for father/son bonding, and instead, we each take turns on the machine, and next thing we know, the weekend is gone and we haven't spent much time together. In anticipation of Gears 2 and multiple 360s in the house, I am getting them all "practiced up".
    Thank you to those who have already made them feel welcome, and to those who invite them in in the future. As I said, when Gears 2 comes out, we will be getting at least one more box, and will be able to make up 3/5ths of a team - or 3/10th of a room! I can't wait.

      know Dylan has really enjoyed playing Gears with them very much. He was playing with them earlier today but he had to get off the 360 because we were going to the YMCA to swim. I have also played a few games with them and they are very well behaved and very polite, just like there Father :) We have to get some Father Son Gears going sometime soon, that would be a blast.
