Future Dashboard Updates

Just wanted to share with everyone a thought I had while reading over the diaries that poured in over the past few days. We tend to link to a lot of videos online and podcasts and I keep thinking about how great it would be to access all this content on my HDTV via the 360. Now I know it's possible if I set up my PC to automatically download new audio and video podcasts and my PC shared that content with my 360 over my home network, but this could be streamlined.

What if a future update added podcast support? That would be nice. Or possibly game channels where you could browse IGN, GameVideos, Gamespot, and other noteworthy gaming mags/news sites and view their reviews and audio/video content. I know this sounds like a web browser but this would be like a slimmed down website that you can easily navigate through with a controller. I know MS isn't big on free content since I had to pay for a video E3 preview from Spike TV. Using the PS3 browser is a pain with the controller and I'm not sure if it supports a mouse.

What do you guys think we can see in the future?

  •  I just recently started using the (none / 0)

PC-360 streaming feature and its really awesome.

Listen to your music, look at pictures etc. all quickly and easily.

That said, what your suggesting would be awesome...Or at least the 1UP Show on the marketplace? I just think Microsoft needs to start supporting video game media out there.

I have two younger bros, ages 19 and 18. The 19 year-old is a pure online Halo gamer and the other is just fine playing his 203rd season on Madden 08 on PS2.

But when I showed Larry, the 18-year old Madden-oholic, the streaming feature and how we could watch some Entourage together on the box he fell in love. He was always watching stuff right after that. It's really a great selling point for the box, Microsoft has to market that feature more.

With that said, I strongly second your view that MS needs to support the gaming media via Xbox Live. All of it should go hand in hand.

I think they are pretty reasonable, too.  Aside from the fact that there are hurdles to overcome because it is a closed system, it could very easily become a reality in one of these updates.

All that is gold does not glitter.

You can use a browser while using the windows media center on your xbox. Not many people know about this because it's something you have to download on your pc in order to use. Basically it is just an extension for your Media Center but it works on your 360. I can't seem to get the Media Center to work on my 360. My pc just can't find my 360 even though they are on the same network. Any idea?

I'm gonna saw me up some of that sex locust.

like Netflix, MS could make a deal with GV, IGN or 1UP for more 360 press coverage and exclusive interviews. I remember the old days when I first got my 360, and there were sections on the video marketplace, a year on and its REALLY quiet with no updates..

Papi gets Boom. PERIOD. A little monster foreplay never hurt anybody..
