  Geo Wars is an awesome game and the second has enough extra features to be called a true sequel.
  It is definitely disappointing that there isn't online co-op (ask Grymm I was freaking out), but no more disappointing than no 4 player co-op in Gears 2.

        online co-op was the ONE feature the fans asked for since '05 when the first one came out. Color me dissapointed

      the new one has like 7...So the new Geo Wars brings tons of new content as well as local co-op (though lame)
      My point was, neither Gears nor Geo Wars has upped the ante in terms of a campaign co-op mode~
      Gears 1 had 2 player online co-op, Gears 2 still has 2 player online co-op (with a separate multiplayer co-op mode) and Geometry Wars had no co-op and Geometry Wars 2 only has local co-op.
      Disappointments all around.

        is a ridiculous comparison. Geo Wars is an ARCADE game! 4 player coop was a MUST for me (and many others) to buy it. Gears does not need 4 player coop because it has so much more going for it. Geo Wars, although providing new gamemodes, needs that extra "wow" feature to sell.

        My comment was meant to place emphasis on the fact that Gears 2 not having 4 player co-op was H-U-G-E. Not in terms of driving sales or the amount of time I will spend with the game, I just find that with it going up against Resistance 7 player co-op, 60 person multiplayer etc. I would hope Epic would be able to pull off 4 player co-op.

        it is huge. Their reasons for keeping it 2 player are actually very understandable. A great example to prove their point is Halo. When I played 2 player coop in Halo it was INCREDIBLE. When I played 4 player, however, the extra 2 players felt very tacked-on and the pacing just seemed to be obliterated. They may be going against Resistance this fall, but that doesn't mean that they need to allow ridiculous amounts of players to be in the same game. They are two very different styles and you cannot seriously say that it would feel right having a 30 on 30 gears match.

        As for 4 player co-op, the original response from Epic (Rod Fergusson) was "you want it out this year, don't you?"...So I think its more of a technical thing than a gameplay decision.
        As for online Halo~I've played it quite a bit and every time a new aspect of teamwork was found. Taking enemies down by one person lowering their shields and then another shooting them in the head while 2 other guys flank the enemies in a vehicle...it was all incredible and I was hoping Epic could live up to something like that.
        I'll take Horde, though ;)

        I'll just add/emphasize a couple of things (none / 0)
        
        First, Machete is right about the quote. It was in regard to Saved films - good memory, Machete!
        Second, SweetTea, I agree, no 4 player coop was HUGE news. It was a shock and it took people a couple of hours to get over it. But you know what, people are FAR more excited about Horde than they ever would have been about playing through campaign with three others. Every where I go (not just Gearheadsofwar.com), people are saying they can't wait to play Horde. Seriously, they are more excited about Horde than they are about the improved MP, the option of Bots, or the badder-assed (ha ha ha) campaign.
        Epic's spin (difficult creating a campaign where everyone is always on the same page when there are more than 2 playing) whether true or not, was brilliant and I totally agree. 4 player co-op is extremely difficult to pull off, and ultimately, how many times do 4 people replay the campaign? If Epic can get the framerate issues under control and make Horde shine, it is going to be played over and over and over - and it will influence other developers to design similar modes.
        Anyway, I just marvel at Epic's design choices for Gears. All the way along, fun, freshness, and replayability seem to be the mantra they live by. Brokenness of Gears 1 aside, every single bite of gaming in the Gears universe is the sweetest, reddest part of the watermelon.
