Gamestop's Gears 2 After Hours Event re-up

Similar to what Gamestop did in Oct. 2006 leading up to Gears 1's Emergence Day, they are holding another After Hours event for Gears 2. It all takes place this Friday, July 25th, after stores close. Gamestop wants to be the official launch center in the minds of gamers for Gears Of War 2 when it releases this November 7th. The event will show a brand new video opening with Cliff Bleszinski and closes out with some new footage for Gears of War 2. In addition, they are also putting together a quick tournament with the top competitor taking home 400 Microsoft points. The tourney is a 1 vs. 1 single elimination match on Gridlock. Gamestop has removed all of the weapons on the map, so you're left with only your Lancer and/or Gnasher. Like the last event, it is only open to those gamers who are 17 or older and participation varies from store to store, so you might want to call ahead. The After Hours event in '06 had promotional swag that was given out to those attending such as lapel pins, lanyards, dog tags, and redemption codes for exclusive XBL Gears' gamerpics. There's been no mention of any promotional fare, but who knows?

    I called my gamestop and they said they weren't sure whether or not they were doing it lol. I might go to a different store if mine doesn't end up doing it.

bad I can't enter Dylan (Sonic Crazy) in this, he would probably do pretty good. I might have to go and bust out the chainsaw on some local nerds LOL. Thanks for reminding me Blank, about two weeks ago I was at my local GameStop and one of the guys was telling me about it and I had forgotten all about it.

I wonder if EB games will be doing something similar like this in Canada. I dont think we have Gamestop here, but this would be so much fun... i'll have to call and find out!

I think it would be hilarious if a bunch of you go out and kick ass at your local shops. Be sure to include Gearheadsofwar.com as part of your personal profile when you sign up, so that when Gamestop lists it later, they pattern is obvious.
Also, tournament hint, keep your distance from the enemy, because they will all be throwing Stun melees like Mofos.
