Hey guys & gals, I just got back in town from the Comic-Con. I have tons of new info, but I just literally stepped through the door & need to spend some much needed quality time with my family. I haven't seen them for four days. The drive back home took a bit longer than two hours. I have the entire discussion panel recorded on my MP3 recorder which I'll make available somehow (Grymm, Zos, or Sweetie- some help on that please). I'll have all of the details up very soon! As Suns has already stated from the Kotaku article, those "linked" achievements are real. Anthony Carmine, Lt. Minh Kim, & General Raam are unlockable character models for MP. As Suns has already mentioned, this is a slick way to increase the sales of the original game since it's been re-upped at $39.99 (with a second disc contained with the DLC maps, gamer pics, themes, & trailers) for those that just purchased their 360s to those still sitting on the fence that haven't played/finished the campaign portion of the game.
Some of my personal highlights was the opportunity to briefly chat with Cliff & Joshua Ortega when they signed my Gears 2 poster. After that, I caught up with Cliff's flame, Chantal, who is also a fellow Gearhead. She promised to pop in more frequently now that she's done traveling. It was great to meet all of them and they're all very down-to-earth. Joshua also thanked our site for all of our continued hardwork & wanted me to relay that to you guys & gals. To top everything else off, Razor Hanzo & I were able to snag a few goodies which will be made available here! More details to come on that.
In the efforts, not to bury the other main page diaries, click here for the rest...
The MP3 recordings of the SDCC Gears 2 Panel Discussion are up! The sound quality is average because the conference hall which fits 1,200 people was only equipped with one speaker system that they had to crank up extra loud. I ran it through an audio program to take out the static and hiss. Nevertheless, it's still a solid listen. Near the end of the first d/l (there are two files), the audience was able to ask the panel some questions. MS didn't do a very good job at screening the people posing questions because there were several that asked unrelated or downright idiotic questions. There was only one microphone and the line to ask a question was absolutely swamped. I was unable to pose our question about "When Epic would announce any community support or lead?" I won't bore you with anymore details, go d/l them here:
I've since removed my MP3 recordings & have replaced them with the actual video of the discussion panel that just went live on Gamespot (7/29): Comic-Con 2008 Xbox Creator's Showcase: Gears of War 2
Update [2008-7-31 19:3:31 by Blankman]: Just added the Gamespot link to the actual MS recorded vid of the Gears 2 discussion panel.
