Thoughts on metal gear online

After playing the single player element of MGS: 4 I decided try metal gear online.  I have to say I'm surprised on how well it turned out.  I have so far played 3 maps I think, the South America one for example, is just a section of a single player area, but it is still fun with a road on one side and many alleys on the other, to fit your play style and mood.

Weapons are limited to the 2 of each class of weapon and many types of grenades like the e locator which can locate enemies through SOP but I'll get to that later.  If you want different weapons you'll want to play a match with drebin points on.  Which means the more kills you get, the better weapons, the more deaths you get, you lose points and have to get rid of the good stuff you acquired.  No matter what you always have a primary firearm, a pistol, a stun knife (WOOT!), and a grenade or trap.

There is also a skill system of passive abilities such as pistol+, cqc+, and runner.  You can level them up, but some will take up more of your 4 slots if you decide to take a level 2 or 3.

If you choose the cqc+ skill (and everyone should) you gain access to a major element of the game:  advanced close quarters combat.  These all are based around the hit, throw, and grab.

SOP (sons of the patriots or "the system") links you and your teammates, you can see them through walls, know when they die or get knocked out and where and share their enemy scanning.  You activate SOP by saluting a teammate.

I have noticed though, the community isn't very smart, for example, they chase me and I go around a corner and hide in a cardboard box, they run past me and make their last mistake.  Someone knocks me down and I just play dead, they fall for it, lol.  Some other not so stupid moves are me hanging one the side of a building so someone doesn't see me and hiding under things.  Also, NO ONE HAS A MIC, not even me :P

Final thought, the controls work really well and if you type <sing> or <song> you start whistling a tune.

Yah, I love this game, my game ID and PSN ID is AvatarJC,
