Lets Talk stamps!

Yes stamps, as in postage. I just got a collection of very old stamps from my moms husband and there is some old ass stamps in there! Everything from 1800's to the late 70's, and from all over the world. I looked for the ones I had heard of like the "Jenny" stamp and of course it was not in there.

Does anyone know how to go about finding a price to put on this collection?

Anyone out there say "Hey I think I'm going to quite playing games for a moment and go work on my stamp collection."? If so I'm lookin for you!

My wife said she would help go through them all, probably just wants some money. :)

have no idea man.  I'm actually looking into selling my sport card collection.  I have a lot of Football, Basketball and Baseball.  I would like to sell them all but don't want to get ripped off, I have no idea what any of them are actually worth.  Haven't looked at a Beckett magazine in years.  With times as hard as they are with not working and all I'm seriously thinking about it.  Not sure if a local card shop would be the best place to sell them all at or not.  Good luck with the stamps :)

to get a handle on the value of your collection.  I had the entire Oilers team and several Gretzky cards from the year he broke ALL the records.  After I traded my cards, I discovered that the Gretzky hockey card alone was already worth $700.00. I never imagined that could happen because it was still barely 10 years after the card was printed and it was not his rookie card, but his record season card.  I figured all collectors would be scooping and saving that one.  Anyway, in hindsight, I should have just kept the cards for my boys, or at the least, recovered some of the value.

Ultimately, collectibles only have as much value as someone somewhere is willing to pay.  I don't have the energy to search out those people.  (I would want someone like the chick in 40-Year-Old Virgin to do the leg work for me.  Too emotional.  ha ha ha )

As for stamps, Grinder, I have no idea.  I collected them when I was in elementary school. Haven't looked at them since.
