Digital Joystick posted some impressions on Gears 2 from PAX. Short and sweet and pure fanboy joy!

Here are just a couple of little tidbits:

...It looks a game on a future console. It is a 2008 game running on a gaming console from 2005 but it looks like a game from 2012. Man that was an extremely Gibsonian cyberpunk thing to say. I don't know what Silicone Knights has been complaining about.
...It was some of the best multiplayer action anywhere. ...
...I don't know what they are feeding them in Cary North Carolina at the Unreal company picnics but I bet they like their steaks pretty bloody and red.

Fun stuff. Personally, I finally got a chance to view those 7 minute vids that HOOT and RoBBins linked to, and I was just amazed by the effect of the new lighting. The characters just stand out so beautifully. Say what you will about Gears 2, but this much is true, it is definitely not just Gears 1.5.

for the info Suns. I like how they say it looks like a game from a future console. I still think Gears 1 is the best looking game out, on any system. I'm so excited for this game!!!

the best looking game out there. Well I will say that MGS4 was pretty fucking slick as well!
