My PC brethren...

First, I got all the parts for my computer from NewEgg.com.

The customer service there is amazing! To date, I'll have had to return two parts, my original CPU (box was trashed) and now my video card (defective, causes video errors, etc).

Bummer.

That aside, have a Steam account up. Going to go through there for some purchases and such. Anyhoo, once I purchase a game or two, I need some ideas. Plus, I'd love to talk machinima and photoshop with some of you guys. Nate, I know you in particular dabble in some of that and would love to chat with you about what you use (tool wise and such). I'm a total n00b but loving it!

    for Machinima its all about GTA 4. It has a replay mode like Halo (only 10x better) Also using Gmod is another decent option. Other then that, a much harder but more professional looking way you could do Machinima is by using Valves Hammer and Faceposer tools. My (and my bros) name on Steam is Sweettea023. Im on 24/7 pretty much. Also Zoso has a ton of info probably. Hes God when it comes to pc stuff

    and I'll shred that with you the entire time I'm home on christmas break. Wait nvm MW2 is coming out :P but still, TF2 is a GREAT game on the PC, its at least 10x better than the xbox version. Im not usually one to say I prefer PC games over console, but in this case, TF2 takes it by a long shot, if you're not into TF2, Counterstrike is always a good game for pwning noobs :P

    wanna get some TF2. Right now, I'm going to do some MW2... after that though, I'll branch out.

    Preciate the heads up on GTA IV. Totally forgot about that. I've seen quite a few vids and have wondered how they did some of what they've done.

      the video editing tools that come with it are really pretty good. So for a montage you really wouldn't ever have to leave the game to edit it.

      has some cool mods too, like that hide and seek one Suns had a link for, it was really cool.

      Oh and question, how much of a pain in the ass is it to install XP and get rid of Vista? Im just asking because you just built a PC and probably know what to do. I've tried looking up some tutorials online but they make no sense to me.

      I want to do it to my desktop because well... its vista, and I'll bring my desktop to school with me after christmas break if i can get xp working.

        a lot. It might be a lot easier to go to Windows 7 then to "downgrade" back to xp. Also Tyrus you can't import music to the editor but they let you use every song in the game. Or at least most of them. And when you save a clip I believe its automatically saved on to your hard drive so you could put it on to another program. Its only 20 bucks and its a hell of a game so I would just buy it

        sadly, I wouldn't know Boxin.

        We ended up getting a trial version of Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. You download it, burn it to a CD, then install it to your comp when you fire it up and it asks you to insert a disc for you OS.

        Thanks for the heads-up Nate. I'll definitely keep that in mind.

        Zos, Nate, what do you guys use for video editing? Right now it's Windows Live Movie Maker for me.

          use Sony Vegas. Its a little hard core but its a really good program. Actually movies maker is probably all you will need if you strictly want to do just montages. However if your doing something a little more complex I would recommend Vegas and a free audio program called Audacity.
