Friday Night FragFest: June 12, 2009 - Man on Fire Edition

I believe I've mentioned before that Man on Fire is one of my favorite movies of all time. I don't know whether it's because I'm a Dad now or what, but there's something that just resonates with me about a guy out for vengeance for the little girl who came to show him redemption and love again.

Why am I bringing this up now? Well one of the things that I took with me from E3 was just how cool Splinter Cell: Conviction looked. And I'm not really the biggest Splinter Cell fan. The stealth genre in general just hasn't held much appeal to me. But this appears like they're going to Jason Bourne route with Sam Fisher being one bad ass MFer. But the coolest thing about the new Splinter Cell is the elements that kind of tell your story or your next objective in the environment. It's similar to how Man on Fire does a lot of the parts of that movie, spilling text on the screen. And Fisher is also looking for revenge in this story for someone killing his daughter. I'm telling you, the inspiration for this next iteration came directly from Man on Fire.

So, any way to the task at hand. Let me know what you want to play tomorrow night. Maybe some Gears 2 MP? Maybe we can get an Uncharted 2 game going if folks are interested? I might not be on until a little late because I might be going to see Star Trek tomorrow night. I'm not sure yet. But it looks like around 9 or so, maybe 9:30.

Finally, I have a 2 day weekend!

I am up for some more Gears 2 Horde because it is just fun. No cursing, or high blood pressure necessary, and if we play it on the easier settings, we can even catch up a bit - find out what's new, etc.

Of course, I am even more up ;) for some more Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead, though I am willing to go it alone once everyone moves over to Uncharted 2 etc.

Also, CoD4 still works for me, though if Johann is on that, then I will either watch his screen and hang out in chat, or just chill.

Seriously, I would love to hear about the greatness of Uncharted 2, so all Gearheads who own it, feel free to use the FFF to its fullest and spend an evening with the Black Mistress.

Absolutely loved that movie. Denzel really shined in that movie. Not only that, but he and the Scott brothers are always in tune with each other.

I am all for Horde! No arguing or stress involved except for kicking some Locust asses! I'll also grab a slice of TF2 and a piece of L4D, too.

I cannot tell you how much I love Man on Fire. That was the one movie besides Training Day that really showed what Denzel can do. Amazing movie. I have to work tomorrow, but I should be out in time to play. I'm down for whatever

on Monday. It's one of those movies I can watch over and over again. I can't even remember how many times it's been. This time happened to be with a lady friend winky face.

have you seen Taken? Liam Neeson is the ultimate badass in that movie. My favourite part is

"You dont remember me do you? We spoke on the phone two days ago"

biggest OMGWTFYOURSOBADASS moment I've seen in a movie lately.

And Papi, you of all people how could you not mention that tonight is game 7? I think detroit ultimately might take it, they're just too damn talented but I'd like to see the Pens win.

  But the soulcrushing loss of my Devils put a damper on my excitement with the NHL the rest of the way through the playoffs. Especially because I would've loved to have seen two different teams in the Finals this year instead of Pitt/Detroit. Really, any teams. Well except the Rangers.

        Well, the Red Wings have been making up for the past 50 years of Lions patheticness...
        
        Plus remember that the Wings did have a 42 year drought of Cups before they got their first "Modern Era" one back in 1998.
        
        All good things come to an end... Just hope it is not this year. Crosby is gonna get his cups at some point. Just wait a few more years....

        all of a sudden. So my wife and I are probably going to see The Hangover in downtown LA. Her parents are going to Mexico for like a month, so we have to take advantage of this! I might be on really, really late, but I won't be able to play online otherwise I'll keep her up (which is why we're going to look at houses today).
