"Halo is scary again..."

That title details one of the many things I took away from the new OXM article on Halo ODST.

And it makes sense- No longer do you have Spartan-level combat ability, but that of an ODST.  Those Brutes just got a tad bit scarier.

Here are some other things I found interesting/awesome in the OXM article:

--
***  The article details a story where they played hide and go seek (they were hunted) by 2 Hunters in a dark building.  With ODST's not having a radar, this experience was actually scary again.

***  As you probably know, the world is free-roaming due to Bungie wanting you to experience the story in random order until the end...The game actually sounds like a mystery-thriller.

*** "Forget what you heard about this being an appetizer-sized expansion pack: ODST has main course written all over it."
--

OXM ends the article by saying ODST may be Bungie's "tastiest treat yet".  Time will tell, but such enthusiasm has me truly pumped.

Now, more Live Action movies plzzz!

  •  No radar! Wooooo!!! (none / 0)

I dislike the radar in all the Halo games (as I am sure I will in MW2 as well).  Nothing takes away from the atmosphere more, than beeping lights telling you what is ahead.  The only place I might enjoy radar would be in an Aliens game.

    No radar = win x5
Sandbox New Mombassa = win x5 (now we will finally have a legitimate reason to pass over the same geometry 3 times).
Play as human, not Spartan = win
    Shorter than Spartan = win
No regenerating shields = win x2
Medals not being removed = win
Warthogs in Firefight = win x3
    Pistols = win
    Saved Films = win
    Net stats = win
Bungie polish and netcode = win x5

I will be watching over Johann's shoulders to see what it is like.  It really does sound fantastic, and I find it very believable that it will be the tastiest treat yet in the Halo universe.

  •  1 important question (none / 0)

If all odsts were like this, how could they lose on the ground.

Pah, who cares about realism, it is a science fiction game after all.

  •  As linked by Joystiq, (none / 0)

Gametrailers has the next Bonus round up now, complete with Halo footage. Heading over to watch it and see if they also have some clowns, nasty zombie clowns! ;)

  •  Halo 2 wasn't very good in terms of single player (none / 0)

and Halo 3 was better, but had me more attatched to the story than the gameplay. ODST seems to be changing things.

Bioshock ftw. Halo universed Bioshock would be amazing.

Not all who wander are lost
