Rolling into E3

Fri Jul 11, 2008 at 10:52:22 PM EST

To say we at GearHeads are ready for E3 would be an understatement.  Our Pre-E3 Gears 2 podcast passed 1,000 downloads just two days after hitting the web.  Our follow up podcast that will take the E3 Gears 2 news to a deeper level has already been recorded and has potential to blow up when posted Monday.  A few days later Greg Ford, Managing Editor of EGM will be joining us to talk about the Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft's Press Conferences.  Not to mention two high profile guests coming on our podcast to finish up the month.

We've finished the pre-game, set up the after party and are just awaiting the big game.  Bring it on, E3; GearHeads is ready and waiting.

If you actively use GearHeads (ie post diaries, visit regularly etc) you'll want to click "Read More" to see how exactly we're handling all the news coming out of E3.  We've decided on a rather particular way of doing it and hope everyone plays along! =)
So go ahead and open up this story to see exactly what we're doing next week (Pics included!) and how you can help!

So here's the deal on E3 News: Blankman, 3Suns, Papi and I discussed how exactly we should handle posting all the news as we didn't want our diaries and stories to be overflowing with E3 news with things getting posted multiple times, discussions about the same things happening in multiple places etc.

So here is what we have for you:

BEFORE/DURING KEYNOTE:  On Monday about a half hour before Microsoft's Press Conference starts we'll be putting a "Live Discussion" story on the front page where all the GearHeads can actively discuss news as it happens.  This will include links to pretty much every place you can get the news including links directly to 1UP and GameVideo's coverage.

AFTER KEYNOTE:  At 6 PM PST our full Gears 2 podcast where Jason B and David Ellis discuss all the news (that they've already witnessed first hand) will hit GearHeads.  It's a half hour of power and can't be missed.

In the same story, we'll post our E3 News section where all E3 news will be available.  Here's an example of what it might look like:

Our Front page...

Here's the short and sweet of it:
*Separate from other E3 news, Gears 2 will have it's own front page story where we'll  list all the major (and minor) Gears 2 news, media, rumblings etc.

*Under that, one big front page story will include the top headlines from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo's Press Conferences with links to each stories source and to a diary with all the major news listed from each conference.

*So if you were to click "Microsoft E3 News" you would be sent to the diary shown on the right of the picture, that will hold the majority of Microsoft's Keynote news and discussion.

* To discuss news or submit something not included in each company's list just submit it and win a 3 day vacation to Hawaii! (Not Really) But seriously, if something hasn't been added to each companies list contained in their diary, please just submit it as a comment instead of creating a whole new diary about it.

*Of course, if something isn't being talked and is already highlighted feel free to post a diary with your thoughts on the subject.
This is all just measures to insure everyone has an enjoyable E3 experience and are by no means "rules".

Now, if you're still reading this (God Bless You) thank you so much for your support of GearHeads and your excitement for what we're doing.  We really hope you enjoy our E3 coverage and can't wait to hear what you have to say!!!
