Our Halo Dreams...

What is your Halo Dream?...

Fanboy or not.  We are allowed to Dream...

We all pretty much started a love affair with Halo at some point.  For many, (myself included...) it pretty much died.

Will Halo ODST bring my love affair with the Halo Franchise back (Including the books)?... I doubt it...  But, you never know...  It might take some steps toward my dream.

On another diary, ESuns posted this...

After copy and pasting His dream, I'll paste mine...   What is yours?

ESUNS:

Halo ODST actually looks to be spectacular and EXACTLY the game that I wanted Bungie to make back in 2004, just shortly after the release of Halo 2.

I want big scale battles. I want lots happening all around me. I want several Hogs drivin' beside me, not just for a couple of minutes like in Metropolis, but for hours. I want multiple objectives with multiple solutions (e.g., stealth and overt aggression). I want large maps, with intel, that is, consultative maps, complete and incomplete, with correct and stale info included. I want to be able to make the decisions: where I go, what I take with me, which objective I attempt first, as someone mentioned about Halo Level, Halo.

What we? want is innovation. I want developers to use those processor cycles for more on-screen enemies, more friendly AI, smarter AI, genuinely bigger and fully-accessible maps, . IMO, I think all hardware and labour resources should be spent on what I have mentioned above. Not on rendering    engines and prettier pictures (unless it can be done in parallel, without taking any time or other resources away from level design).

Checking my posts over at HBO, I became more focused in what I wanted from Bungie and by 2006, I basically asked for what has become HORDE mode, on the day that Epic released Gears of War (that is #1, not the sequel, gentlemen) in Australia.

...if Halo 3 has some large scale battles, that need not necessarily be a problem. How cool would it be to be on the top of a building or hill or cliff with one of the other characters from the novels and sniping together in a scenario similar to what Rockslider has had to create for Halo 1 - (i.e., waves of enemies for sniper enjoyment)! Or, better yet, having one of the Spartans spot for you (like in the E3 2003 demo), or vice versa because somehow, there was only one rifle for the two of you.

I am wrong often, but sometimes I am also right.  I don't know that I will get ODST, because that was 5 years ago that I was asking for this game, but who knows.  Maybe I will come into some extra cash.

Kenai91's dream

Suns,

My feelings exactly.   I think we Must have talked about this at some point.

To add to what you wrote, I'll say this...   I want a REAL General.   With Specific Plans.  With Ability to make changes to the maps (A Real Forge application - not just tinkering to make racetracks...)  Maybe he and the other teams General work on a Map / Battle Plan for a week or so...  Then Game Night...  IT Launches!)

Generals With access to Intel to see troop placement / enemy movement (Robots Flying Over the battlefield).  Calling out commands to his Commanders to redistribute troops for various scenarios.   I want dozens if not hundreds of players.  I want the teams to be able to shoot the Intel out of the Sky, so the General goes blind for a while...

I want the teams to be human and covenant.  I want to play as a Grunt, Elite, Hunter.  Maybe even a level up system where you start as a Grunt but can move up to be a Jackal, then eventually rank up to an Elite Commander.

As a Commander you have a specific Squad (that you regularly play with)  You all have personal rank but also a Group rank...  With specific tasks...   The General relays these tasks to the Commanders.

I want matches to last 2 hours.

I want a team (General) to have Assets (Buy a Tank? Warthog? Rocket Launcher?) Okay, but you've only got so much money to spend.
