In the process of my work on a side project, I came across the following little tidbit. I am no history buff, so the fact that I didn't catch the reference is no surprise to me, but did you know that The Battle of San Jacinto was fought in what is now called Harris County, Texas.
I have to go to a class now so I can't dig in, but I find this interesting.

[It]was the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution. Led by General Sam Houston, the Texas Army engaged and defeated General Antonio López de Santa Anna's Mexican forces in a fight that lasted just eighteen minutes. Hundreds of Mexican soldiers were killed or captured, while there were only nine Texan casualties.
