Wanted: Weapons of Fate Game

Sat Nov 29, 2008 at 11:18:19 AM EST

I just watched the latest Gametrailers episode which featured the game (based on the movie with Angelina Jolie for thoes that don't know) and I have got to say I was really impressed with the gameplay shown. Especially the cover mechanics. One of the lead designers even credits Gears for how they based their cover system. It just looks like they took cover from Gears and gave it a shot of adrenaline, seriously!

Anyway I got a really good vibe from the piece I watch and I think since that game plays in the same vein as Gears you guys should check it out.

Here's a link to the latest trailer, but to get a better look at the game check out the show.

Favorite Line from Gears?

Sun Nov 23, 2008 at 01:03:55 AM EST

I was watching the "Who wants toast?" video and it just made me realize how some of the lines just put a stupid grin on my face and I was wondering what piece of dialogue from the campaign stuck with you?

My favorite line would have to be when you first get the sniper rifle and Dom points out a grunt patrol walking down below you. When you start sniping the grunts Marcus starts counting out his kills and if you manage to hit 5 (not hard) he screams "That's five motherfuckers!!!!" That one line put a huge smile on my face.

(Update:  Check HERE for some of the many voice tracks.  Thanks to Chris for providing the link.   Admin Edit)

Mirror's Edge Demo

Fri Oct 31, 2008 at 04:05:08 PM EST

I know we're all sitting on pens and needles (except Papi who's sitting on a sponge) waiting for Gears to hit, but I just tried the demo of Mirror's Edge and it really shocked me with how proficient it is.

I use the word proficient because the game has always looks good, but being a FPS that you really don't use the S (that's shooter for thoes that don't follow) it really works well.

I'm gonna say this game will most likely appeal to anyone who loved the freerunning aspect of Assassin's Creed last year. It's definitly more complicated then Assassin's hold one button system, but it really is addictive in the way that I keep wanting to play the level over and over trying to find the best and coolest ways to traverse the it. Try it.

Oh and the music is sublime. Just listen to the opening music when you start the actual mission. Great stuff.

Dead Space.....Poster Child of Sound Design

Wed Oct 15, 2008 at 04:14:20 PM EST

So I've gone through the first two levels of the game and I have to say that everyone on this site should play this game. We all love the 3rd person viewpoint and plenty of blood (ahem...Gears). So this game really isnt that far removed from what we all come to this site to talk about.

Anyway the real reason you should play this game is the sound. I know it's not a reason you usually pick up a game, but this game is seriously the poster child of sound design. It is truly atmospheric and really brings you into the game in a way I haven't had since Bioshock. The first time you step into an area with no air or gavity you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Now I have a great surround system going so I'm sure that helps, but I really think everyone should experience this.

Anyway I just had to stop playing for a moment to spout that off.

Saving till later....

With so many great games coming our way in such a small amount of time there is gonna be at least 1 or maybe 2 games that everyone is gonna have to skip and hold off on. I'm just wondering what game that might be for you guys.

For me its gonna be Fallout 3. With the fact that this game is boasting somewhere around 100 hour of game time this is definitly staying on the shelf till late Dec or early Jan. I really want to play it, but there is no way for me to finish something like that and give it the investment to really get something out of it.

Uhg, didn't anyone ever tell these developers not to put all their eggs in one basket.

What's your band name?

Sun Sep 14, 2008 at 11:11:16 PM EST

Just for those of us that are into playing with plastic guitars, drums and karakoe. I was wondering what names you guys use for your band names.

I use to love using Kathleen-Turner Overdrive (props to anyone that knows where that name comes from), but I decieded to choose something more original so now I'm the front man for the Polyatomic Banana Slayers or PBS for short.

If your a Rock Band fan, sound off with your best band names.

Can't play my 360. I have to grow my garden.

Sat Aug 02, 2008 at 03:28:20 PM EST

This is completly stupid and new and stupid. I'm on the last chapter of MGS4. Geometry War 2 just came out and I still have Soul Calibur in its wrapping and I can't play any of them!

Why?!? Because I have to attend to my garden. I am playing PixelJunk Eden. A completly simple downloadable game and it is totally addicting. The gameplay is so simple yet challenging and the music is just so completly chill that I feel like I should be smoking something illegal while I play this game.

Has anyone else tried this thing?

(BTW its on PS3)

PS3....maybe?

Sun Jul 13, 2008 at 06:54:41 PM EST

Hey guys I'm thinking about picking up a PS3 finally. Basically so I can stop plugging my fingers in my ears and humming whenever someone starts to talk about MGS 4. I'm just wondering what other "must have" titles I can pick up.

About the only other game on my list is Uncharted and if there was at least a few others I might just head out and pick it up today, but as of right now I can't justify it.

And yes I'm getting a 60 gig to play all the PS2 and PS games

Bourne Consiracy Demo anyone?

Fri May 09, 2008 at 07:25:26 PM EST

Has anyone else tried this out? It's pretty simplistic and filled with the now imfamous quick-time events, but I can't help the amount of cool I feel when I play it. It really makes you feel like Jason Bourne and maybe it's just because I really loved all the movies and own them all but I was wondering what anyone else thought.

Anyone?

It's Not Me.

Tue May 06, 2008 at 02:03:08 PM EST

Hey guys. I know most of the vets know me (Zoso, Grymm, Papi, Doe, Sweet, ect. ect.) but all the new guys have no clue who I am.

Anyway I was looking at all the messages I have on my Live account and I just wanted to let anyone that has been asking me to join your games or sending me messages that I acutally haven't been playing my account for quite some time.

My brother has become a huge 360 fan and has been using my account. In fact he is almost always on whenever I walk in the door and I'm sorry but he has been just ignoring any invites you guys have been sending. I don't want anyone to think I'm ignoring them so I just wanted to put up a diary about it.

I'm definitly going to be putting some time away for GoW2, but with 16 units a semester, 2 jobs, and an internship I really have no time until then. Please try to keep me on your friends list but if you dont have room I understand.

Did anyone congrat David?

Mon Dec 24, 2007 at 08:21:58 PM EST

If anyone missed it, David Ellis made his podcast debut on the holy grail of gaming podcasts, the 1UP Yours Show.

I just wanted to say congratulations. He made a great first impression and really added to the show. He actually sounded like he was at home on the show and I hope to hear him more on in the future.

Live is down....I guess

Sat Dec 22, 2007 at 08:19:16 PM EST

I see that a few of my friends are on Live right now but nothing like I would expect on a Saturday night.

Gonna take a wild guess and say Live is down since it's not working for me. Or am I just screwed?

Blah Blah Blah......................................300 is an awesom movie, but otherwise the number sucks =P
