MW2 vid...

Tue Nov 17, 2009 at 11:34:06 AM EST

I got my computer back and couldn't contain myself. Beat the game last night and included footage from campaign and MP. More vids to follow. Be forewarned, there are campaign spoilers, so if you haven't beat it, I'd avoid it. Honestly though, the way I did it was tactful and quick, so you probably wouldn't know what happened. But if your a purist, don't watch the video until you have beaten the campaign.

Back again...

Computer is back up and running. Hopefully, won't have further issues. More fun stuff to come!

My PC brethren...

Thu Oct 22, 2009 at 10:14:16 AM EST

First, I got all the parts for my computer from NewEgg.com.

The customer service there is amazing! To date, I'll have had to return two parts, my original CPU (box was trashed) and now my video card (defective, causes video errors, etc).

Bummer.

That aside, have a Steam account up. Going to go through there for some purchases and such. Anyhoo, once I purchase a game or two, I need some ideas. Plus, I'd love to talk machinima and photoshop with some of you guys. Nate, I know you in particular dabble in some of that and would love to chat with you about what you use (tool wise and such). I'm a total n00b but loving it!

Second Montage...

Tue Oct 20, 2009 at 05:52:58 AM EST

Hey all, here's my second montage. It's half machninima, half montage. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it. Light years ahead of my first effort, in my opinion. My only real criticism is that I used the zoom feature a lot. But overall, I was very pleased with the editing. Tell me what you think. Constructive criticism is appreciated.

Was talking to Average the other day and he said IW is considering video playback features as free DLC for MW 2. If they do that, it'll be off the chain.

In the upcoming months, I'll be making videos for just about everything we play... but you'll be seeing more ODST videos because it's so damn easy. Rest assured, there's going to be some good stuff down the road.

Keep up the good fight guys. See ya soon!

p.s. Won't be on FFF this week. Seeing AC/DC again! They're coming back to Atlanta!

I'm baaack...

Remember when I said I was offline because my brother's computer was infected with a virus? Well, my beastly machine was finally fitted together the other night. Aside from being an incredibly educational process, I've learned this much about PCs thus far... you need to have an incredible amount of patience.

I was painfully reminded of that lesson again tonight as I took it upon myself to make my first montage video. First, I had issues with the drivers for my capture device, a DVC 100 Dazzle DVD recorder.

I had to read, do some research, and finally come to the conclusion that the drivers needed to be deleted and reinstalled. That took me about two to three hours.

Then I had to learn how to use the capture device and edit it all with Windows Movie Maker. The end product is rough in some spots, but I present it to you, my lovable Gearheads. Sorry for some of the audio squaks, but they are not there in the original... I'm assuming they're due to some oddness in putting up a video on Youtube.

That aside, enjoy.

And signups are below. Unfortunately, I have to work tonight, so I won't be able to make it. Keep up the good fight guys!

Fighting the good Fight...

Mon Sep 28, 2009 at 12:26:03 PM EST

So, the other day my friends and I broke a new personal record in firefight... our total score at Lost Platoon was 1,687,062. It was so bad that we had all skulls on but iron. Ridiculous.

You can see my entire service record here.

In his last post on FFF papi asked something along the lines of whether or not Firefight was better than Horde. The first question you have to ask yourself is whether or not you consider yourself an FPS player or not. But in my opinion, yes, it is.

For those of you who looked at the stats from our ridiculous game, my friends and I were laughing our asses off.

We were saying that the Prophets must have been pissed, throwing waves of soldiers against just four guys.

Fire-fight is awesome in that just about anyone can have fun. And if you liked the pistol from Halo 1, you'll love the pistol here. It's fucking surgical in terms of precision.

Anyhoo, should actually be on this Friday. Sorry I didn't make it last Friday Jim. But they needed help and the money was too damn good to turn down.

I'm fairly certain I won't be working this Friday though, so I should be on.

That aside, I also got my parts for my supercomputer. lol. So if everything works out fine, I may be able to start doing capture films. We'll see though. Probably going to send the CPU back for a replacement because the box was trashed.

Once it all comes together though, you guys will be seeing me much more on here posting all sorts of interesting things.

Anyhoo, that's the spiel. Catch yall on the flip side!

ODST review - Spoiler Free!

Wed Sep 23, 2009 at 04:32:15 PM EST

Finished ODST yesterday. Honestly, I haven't enjoyed a Halo game this much since the original...

Where I've been...

Mon Aug 31, 2009 at 02:11:30 PM EST

Hey all. Been AWOL lately. Been working a lot of Fridays, first off.

Secondly, I'm taking a break from MP games. Probably won't pick one up until ODST and MW 2. Until then, rocking out some SP titles. I'm working on going through Dead Space and Mass Effect. I have to say, Mass Effect has really grown on me. The AI is incredibly fucking retarded sometimes, but in most instances, it works. I literally died three times in a row because I had a teammate stuck on a box and we couldn't run out of a hallway before it all blew up. Thanks Wrex. Thanks.

That aside, the game's been pretty fun in that I've been playing the game as if I were really making the decisions. Sometimes, Bioware games tend to thow you far to the left or right in terms of good and evil. I like that there's more of a middle ground in this one. Basically, I'm a good guy, but bad people that deserve a bullet in the brain pan get one, pure and simple.

Also, I made a character with the sequel in mind. My guy is meant to look old... basically, picture a sickly Clint Eastwood with a hideously disfiguring scar and scars from acne in his childhood and you have my guy. lol.

It's been a nice little gem. Most of the time, I put down a game and that's that. But Mass Effect and Dead Space have been an exception. Only reason I put Dead Space down is the intensity. I HAVE to play that game one level at a time in daylight. lol. It's like the lovechild between John Carpenter's The Thing and Event Horizon. Pretty dense stuff.

On the computer front, I haven't posted much lately because my brother's computer has a virus on it. I'm currently at a local community college writing this stuff up.

But I'm planning on building a kick ass rig in a few weeks. It's the quivalent of Alien Ware's top gaming PC. Going to be very nice. Plus, I'm getting a capture device for gaming vids. So who knows, you could be on the internetz soon!

p.s. Infidel, sorry I missed your party invite last night. I was so engrossed in Mass Effect I didn't even notice it. You know those blue women... they need sexing.

District 9...

Mon Aug 17, 2009 at 05:18:14 PM EST

Definitely one of the most interesting sci-fi flicks I've seen in a while. Sci-fi is generally hit or miss. It's either quality or crap. You have a few middle ground pieces, but not too much that's great. To me, District 9 was a great movie. The effects were good, the main character was incredibly believable, and the soundtrack and action kicked ass.

There were a few moments that came close to being tear jerkers for me. The movie definitely pulled at the heartstrings. The effects were pretty damn good too.

The actor who did the main character did a great job. There's moments where you're cursing at him, then a minute later you're rooting for him. And don't even get me started on the end sequence. It was effin' awesome.

All in all, great flick. Check it out.

And watch out for the pig.

The Digital Age...

My dad and I were talking about all sorts of interesting things the other day...

My little pwnies...

Silent Hill style. Crazy.

The memory remains...

Sun Aug 02, 2009 at 09:59:40 PM EST

I was listening to the radio the other day, and AC/DC's song, "For those about to Rock" came on. There's a verse in it that goes like this:

We're just a battery for hire with a guitar fire
Ready and aimed at you!
Pick up your balls and load up your cannon
For a twenty-one gun salute!

Now this is how my mind works. The line about the twenty-one gun salute made me think back to my Counter-Strike days.
